Priceline isn't being very cooperative this evening. I plan to visit DLR this Wed. and would like a room for Tues. & Wed. night. I can get Super 8 on Katella for a total of $158.70 and Motel 6 on Disney Way for $107.98 ~ I really like the M6 rate. I've been holding out on the ent rate @ HoJo's but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Opinions are appreciated.

TIA!

Are those the rates you're getting from PL or from the hotel websites? I ask because I'm surprised the Super 8 is that much. We stayed there over spring break and made reservations over the phone for $50/night which seems like a lot less than the price you're quoting. When I was researching a few months ago it seemed like I was finding cheaper prices on the hotel websites than with PL unless I bid on an unknown hotel instead of picking the hotel I wanted.

Nope ~ M6 & S8 are rates through their sites. I can't rebid on priceline till tomorrow at the earliest. I'm positive I won't get lower than these rates especially M6 ~ priceline places seem to always have a resort fee of at least $10 per night. I didn't get anything tonight starting @ $40 per night going up to the low $50s.

We needed a cheaper motel/hotel for our trip coming up as well. In doing my research, the Super 8 had a lot better reviews than the Motel 6. Also, have you checked Anaheim Plaza or Peacock Suites? Both of those have been running pretty inexpensive lately, we were booked last week at Anaheim Plaza at $69 a night, but switched to Peacock Suites when I found them yesterday at $84.50 a night because there are 6 of us and now we will only need one room! The smaller suite will be less, not sure how much it is. I think Anaheim Plaza may have just gone up to $79. Check both expedia and the hotels websites. Good luck! Peacock Suites does charge an $8 a day parking fee, something to be aware of in adding up price differences. Anaheim Plaza has a $2 a day fee I believe.

I'm surprised the super 8 is charging that much. Also, I've heard of people getting the Hyatt or Hiton for around $50-$60 a night by bidding on PL but not sure if anyone gets those prices for the summer or not. :confused3

Also, have you looked at any other hotels, even if they sound too expensive? It seems like I've seen the Annabella for around $80. They might charge more for the summer but I think I saw it for $80 a few weeks ago on Hotwire (I'm of course guessing the hotel by looking at the amenities since they don't tell you the names on that site before you buy). I also saw one hotel (can't remember which now) that was quite a bit cheaper on Travelocity than it was anywhere else. I know that doesn't really answer your original question but those were just things I thought of.

I've never stayed at the Motel 6 but if you have any questions about the Super 8 I can try to answer them since I just stayed there in April.

Would you stay there again?

If I absolutely only wanted an inexpensive hotel, then yes, I would stay there again. I think I decided I would rather pay a little more and get a slightly nicer place but if the choice was to stay there or not go to DLR at all then I would definitely stay there again. It actually was pretty good for the price (the price being $50) especially since they had free parking, free breakfast and was close enough to walk. I did have some issues though. First, we asked for a refrigerator when making the reservation but when we got there, they didn't have it available for us. It almost sounded like they only had one fridge for the whole hotel but that would be weird. They told us the reason they we couldn't get the fridge was because someone needed for medicine. Well, I can understand the need for that but DS is on a special diet (has a feeding tube and is only now learning how to eat) so I brought food for him that needed to be refrigerated. Thankfully we brought our cooler with us so we were able to keep it on ice all weekend but it was a pain. The hotel could have called us ahead of time to let us know or something. The other issues were that the lady at the front desk was not at all friendly to us, the clock didn't work (had the wrong time when we checked in but we didn't notice and ended up being late for dinner then later it just flashed and we couldn't get it to stop flashing), and the hair drier didn't work. The breakfast was okay (a couple kinds of cereal and donuts and juice) but we brought our own cheerios and just used their bowls and milk. Also, the carpet got our socks a little dirty from walking around on it. The room looked clean though with fairly new looking furniture and a new, clean shower curtain with the curvy curtain rod for more space. And we didn't hear anyone else in the other rooms. We were upstairs so not sure if the people below could hear us walking around.

Hope that give you an idea of what to expect. Oh, also, the GardenWalk is right next door which is nice if you want to go there for dinner or something.

I would recommend the Super8 on Katella for sure. I have stayed there at least five times in the past and never had any problems. Don't go expecting anything fancy and you will be fine. It's a decent place to sleep, shower, and get to Disney! :thumbsup2

I have to second this post! It's a cheap place to stay and nice enough if all you are looking for is a place to rest at night.

I stayed at Comfort Inn Maingate the last time with breakfast included. The waffles are yummy but you need to get there early.

Don't forget to check out Alpine Inn. No one ever talks about it here, but I've heard fine things about it on mouseplanet.

Have you tried hotwire, or even hotels.com? With hotels.com you do have a cancellation window, just in case hojo comes through. :) Also you might try orbitx or expedia or the other one I can't remember; most of those types of sites are dropping booking fees right now, so it's worth a check, but don't 100% commit (as in, pay) until you see the FULL price.

DH and I have stayed at Motel 6 five times. 3 of which were when it was Red roof Inn. When It was red Roof Inn it was incredibly nice, clean etc. The first time we stayed there when it was motel 6 it was still nice and it looked like they were refurbishing some of the rooms.

We stayed there again last june and it was AWFUL. Staff was rude, mold in the bathroom, cobwebs in corners, and they replaced the carpeted flooring with hardwood......except they didn't sweep. You couldn't walk from the bed to the bathroom without your sock turning black [not exaggerating]

DH and I used to love this Hotel and now we'll never stay there again:sad2: Between the two I say go Motel 8......only because anything has to be better then Motel 6

We stayed at the Motel 6 twice, once when it was still the Red Roof Inn and based on our good experience then we went back for one night last year.

We did have carpet in our room and no cobwebs, but that was about everything. We did check in in the early evening, and there was a huge chaos at registration. Staff had apparently doublebooked at least two rooms, and gave another party keycards to a room that was already in use. They seemed to have lost track completely of which rooms were free and which were occupied.

Based on that, I wouldn't recommend the hotel either. We were going for dinner at DTD the night we arrived, and I ended up hauling my complete camera equipment with me because I didn't feel comfortable leaving it in the room.
