This would be a first MNSSHP for DH and I if we can get tickets. I have a few questions and also need your advice about what's not to miss.

More than likely we will not arrive at the party right when it starts. Will we miss anything significant if we get there say two hours late?

I see last year they did two fireworks shows a night. Was that just for select nights? We will be there the night it opens so can we expect two shows or just one?

One of the things I'm looking forward to is The Headless Horseman. Is he in every parade? Where's a good place to stand to get the best glimpse of him?

I see they take complimentary Halloween pictures. Are they hard to get, meaning will the picture line be mobbed?

We don't want to wear costumes (too hot) but aren't opposed to wearing funny hats, t-shirts, glasses or something like that. Will we fit in if we're not dressed up? Do a lot of people dress up in September?

What things should we absolutely not miss? TIA!

Actually it is 2 (8pm and 10pm) parades and fireworks at 9:15. I am looking at the brochure from 2005 right now.

Thanks. That makes more sense.

The Headless Horseman won't ride if it's too wet.

Photo line can be long, but it can also be short too - like ride lines, there's a lot of factors that determine how busy it is. We never had a long wait though.

You will fit in if not dressed up. Lots of people do dress up though.

Normally, people can start getting in the park about 4pm. That would give you an additional 3 hours or a potential loss of 5 hours.
I love to start the party off with dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. It' s a nice family style meal and it's fun to see the characters in costume.

Thanks for your post. We'll be attending our 1st MNSSHP during our OCt. 14-21. One question I thought of ......do we need to bring our our container, bag, etc for candy or are they provided? Thanks

When you enter with your MNSSHP ticket, you will be given your wristband and a bag with handles to use for trick or treating (everyone in your party gets one, adult or child). We didn't even really go after the candy, and still all ended up with our bag over half full when we left.

Wear costumes if you can -- it's fun! We had some people ask to take pictures with us when we first went, and enjoyed the attention from our costumes throughout the night. I would say that approximately 30% of the people at the party are really in costumes, and many of the rest are in shirts, hats, etc., that would be considered "Halloween" themed.

They have goodie bags. They give out a lot of candy. It's a great pre-Halloween candy fest for us.

We had about a bag similar to a store plastic grocery bag 1/2 full during our visit last year. It was good candy, too.
