I hope this will be a fun and interesting thread............

I'm throwing a 80th birthday party for my grandmother in a few months. There will be about 30 relatives at the party, and I'm looking for some activities. One of the games I've decided on is a trivia like game, "where was grama when...." I thought this will be a fun and interesting way to show how many interesting and wonderful things she's witnessed in her life. I'll have her fill in her answer sheet and give it to me before the rest of the family will see it---whoever gets the most answers correct will win a prize.

I'm thinking along the lines of when JFK was shot, when the space shuttle blew up.........etc. Go back as far as you can, 80 years worth!

thanks!

9/11

Stock Market crash of 1929

Maybe I'm missing the concept of this site but shouldn't you be going along the lines of :
When Walt was born / died?:sad1:
When Mickey, Minnie, Donald,...... was created?:bday:
When Disneyland (and other parks) opened?:yay:
When Epcot, Disney MGM, Animal Kingdom opened?

Don't forget to post your final test!!!!!!!

The Great Depression
Color Televisions
Elvis
McCarthyism

WWII - ask her if she still has her ration books (my dad does!)

When polyester was invented?
When XYZ family member wore these bell bottoms (show picture)?
When Cary Grant made his first movie?

If you have any funny pictures of her, then post them and say, "When this picture was made?" I have a picture of my grandmother in a hilarious, out of character for her younger days, Halloween costume.

Once my Gram hit 75, she stopped caring what others thought of her. She started showing how crazy she really was and what she really thought.... Wooo wee! The stories I could tell then!!!

If your grandmother is like that, too, that might be fun to reminisce about. Those moments really made me realize my Gram was an interesting woman, not just a fabulous cook who hugged really well. Definitely an eye-opening experience for me as a young girl.

Hope that helps!

Something else is to have each attending family remember to do a remember when event. Something personal that they can remember your grandmother did.

Do you remember when we went out and did so and so?

If you have any funny pictures of her, then post them and say, "When this picture was made?" I have a picture of my grandmother in a hilarious, out of character for her younger days, Halloween costume.

This is a good idea. If you have old pictures of her from throughout her life you could get copies made, then cut her out and put her into some famous scene like D-Day in Times Square, the Beatles playing Ed Sullivan, or the moon landing. It would be funny in a Forest Gump kind of way.

It might also be fun to compare her to other family members...like Grandma grew up with radio, her kids had TV, grandkids had VCRs, and kids today have DVDs and TiVo. Or you could compare famous movies or celebrities from different family members' times...like Grandma had Lillian Gish and the kids today have Britney Spears.

It might also be fun for young kids to show them pictures of everyday things from 1927 and see if they even know what they are. See how many of them would recognize an 80 year old phone or camera or refrigerator.

I think I need an 80 year old to plan a party for now.
