I have nothing special for DH for Christmas. I've been insanely busy, sick, and uninspired. I'm pretty much his only hope for any gift that will surprise him. I've bought him a winter coat, gloves, 2 shirts, a calendar, and 2 books (one about raising kids and one organizational book.) Nothing fun! Only stuff he needs. I usually buy him a bunch of specialy food stuff--but it's hit or miss with whether he likes it. Help me think of something fun or something he'd really appreciate--that I can get FAST!

FYI...
He's a stay at home dad to 3 little kids, homeschools our kids, loves popcorn, spicy food, and unusual food and drinks. He likes the Chicago Blackhawks and Bears enough to record the games and stay up to watch them, but isn't a sports fanatic.

concert tickets, game tickets, keurig, netflix subscription, ipad, ipod, membership to local museum or zoo ( could enjoy with the kids).:)

Well..he likes popcorn and watching TV....why not use that? Popcornfactory.com has items that you can order by tomorrow and get on Friday. Our local mall has a flavored popcorn shop. Grab some of his favorite movie size candies...put it all in a box that the kids can decorate for him (cover an old box with brown packing paper and have the kids put pictures they draw, stickers, etc on it.

Or....how's the budget? Can you get him and a buddy tickets to a Bears game? Stay at home moms often desire a day out without the kids....guess a dad would also.

Or.....Maybe for him to take the kids to a day game? We include plays and ball games and such in our homeschool "curriculum". It's a great way for him to teach the kids about sports and have a really fun afternoon too.

Lingerie (in your size - for you to wear), candles, massage oil, champagne, chocolates. I bet that will surprise him!

Get him a GC to a local restaurant and a GC to the movies. Call up your babysitter (or a relative) and schedule a night they can come and babysit and you can take your dh out. Thats what I'm doing for mine, and weirdly I got my dh the same gifts as you got yours (a ski coat, ski gloves and a book)

I dunno how much more money you want to spend - but my DH's most memorable and appreciated gift ever was the Richard Petty Driving Experience - the one at WDW.
I didn't do a ride or drive - just him - and it was about $350 total for 8 laps driving. He couldn't stop grinning for days.
Got a trip to disney planned any time this year? Do this!

ETA- You just go online and book the experience - then print out your Confirmation page (all pretty colors and logos)
and wrap that! That's what I did.

Thank you for clarifying this. Otherwise, this could've been REALLY awkward!:rotfl:

How about booking something for when you are in Disney. I see from your ticker it is just the two of you going..A massage perhaps at SSR or GF?
That would be nice!

Ipad? Could be really fun with homeschooling the kids.

I think that you should buy him some sports ticket for a night out next year. They have awesome ticket deals right now and this gift will blow him out of the water. They have for local teams usually a pack of 4 so he can take his friends or you both can have a date night. They have alot of 4 hot dogs, 4 popcorn, 4 beers, 4 ticket packs for $79 or $99 at professional sports teams. Call your local arena ticket sales department. This is fast and you can even print tickets on line through ticket master.

What state do you live in? Alot of states have great get away weekend packages. I'm in Arizona and our resorts offer local $99 weekend packages where you get a 2 night stay plus meals for being a state resident. It would give him a break and you both can reconnect. Grandma can watch the kids? He won't have to cook. You guys can go see a movie and chill out in the resort hot tub. ;)

Harry and David have a lot of yummy popcorn flavors. They have Harry and David's now at some malls. Also they carry their popcorn Moose Munch at Macy's. Also Cost Plus World Market has awesome foodstuffs from around the world. Minatures stuff too that is great as stocking stuffers. They also have beers from all over that you can buy as singles at $1 to $8.99 each the more expensive beers are "specialties". A beer basket under the tree with a big red bow. ;)

Does he like any particular author? You can get him some audio books so he can listen to the book while he is cleaning house etc. Hands free reading. LOL! :rotfl:

Model cars and airplanes that he could do with the kids. Kids love to watch dad do stuff. And maybe even experiment gifts like make a volcano or make rootbeer kits. Thats fun! Or an ice cream maker or snow cone maker with syrups. To go along with movie and popcorn night.

Omaha steaks also has been having great freebies and sales check on line

Merry Christmas!

I second the Richard Petty Driving Experience. My husband really was smiling the entire day! If the $400 is more than you want to spend for a Christmas gift, there is a special for a ride a long $59.

That would even surprise me! :lmao:

Chocolate covered bacon?
 He probably would like that. Not sure I've seen that around, but he got his father chocolate covered potato chips.

That would be awesome if we were going alone. I can see my description of "relaxing" would lead you to believe that there wouldn't be three kids there, but there will be. :upsidedow I just intend to spend more down time than our usual commando style park touring.

Are you in a major metropolitan area? Groupon has some great Christmas deals.
We're near Chicago. I'll look into that! Thanks!

Ipad? Could be really fun with homeschooling the kids.
Is there more you can do with that than laptops? I'm behind the times on technology.

LOTS of great ideas there! I'll have to find out if I can find a sports package like that! He doesn't hang out with buddies usually, but I'm sure he can find someone to go with.

Oh boy! If you do this daddy's Christmas present maybe a new little baby! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Already on the way! ;)

Thanks everyone for so many awesome ideas! I'm going to do a little internet research here and then possibly head out to the stores again. Thanks so much!

Anyone know of any professional sports ticket & concession packages like that in Chicago? That would be awesome!

Yes the Bulls often run a special. You can also buy through Stub Hub but they often are from private ticket holders so you may get courtside etc.

This is what the Bulls are offering right now. I know Philadelphia 76ers have an all you can eat hot dogs, popcorn, soda ticket which is AWESOME!:cheer2:
