Hi,

We will be at Sea World on Mat 20th, first time, 2 kids 3 adults. I really have no idea if i should have a touring plan for our day there; i have done so much planning for Disney that i was hoping i could just go with flow at Sea World but my planner personality tells me i should plan Sea world too :)

The only thing i have planned is dinner with Shamu which i just booked; but what is a general touring plan for one day at the park? Rope drop? Hit what first? My kids are 6 and 8 not sure if they will be interested in Roller coasters but husband and i might. What about the shows? They dont have the show times posted yet so i don't know when to see what.

i would like it to be a more relaxing day, we don't have to do every single thing that there is to do but enough to enjoy it. (Really Disney planning, FP+, ADR was too much for me)

Please help!

Thank you!

If you have only one day at sea world I would go to the website and check the showtimes. I would print these off and plan your day around this. I like to do the dolphin feeding first thing in the morning and then the dolphin show. I think the dolphin show is the best show at sea world at this time. Then off to Clyde and Seymour. Try to get there at least 20 minutes early to see the Mime. After that we try to do Wild arctic before Shamu. The line gets long after Shamu gets out. We walk through the polar bears and walrus after that. I try to get to the 2:00 Shamu show at least 25 minutes early to get a seat high in the soak zone just below the camera. Not to wet but great view. I bring ponchos. Your boys are still young enough to enjoy pets ahoy. I would do that after Shamu.

Sea World seems to be the most laid back of the major theme parks in central Florida, so go with the flow can work well. The Park map that you should pick up after entering will have all the show times listed for the current day. This is a good time to lay out a general plan for your must see shows. You can see all of them, but the laid back touring plan may take a hit. There are a few “big” rides in the park but my only must do is the watercoaster Journey To Atlantis. Clyde and Seamore in the Sea Lion & Otter Theater is always a must see and arrive early to see the preshow. Some of the small exhibits like the Dolphin Nursery & Stingray Lagoon fit in well for the Non-commando park day. Hope you have fun planning for your Sea World adventure and great time in the park.

Arrive at opening, and go directly to Antarctica if you want to see the penguins. The line gets really long.

We were there last week, do the antartic penguins ride first, it had a 30 minute wait 10 minutes after opening. Everything else was easy all day, get to shows 20 minutes early.
Eat lunch at off times, the lines for food got long especially at the all day meal plan locations.

Subbing- thinking about a day at SeaWorld too and wondering if it's feasable/doable. We ONLY want to do one day- but don't want to if we just can't make it work timewise.

One day at Seaworld is definitely doable. We did this last summer. We only missed 2 shows (dolphin and the acrobat one) but we probably could have fit them in if we tried (DD really liked Manta). We left around 7pm.

We are heading there next week and plan to fit the dolphin show in this time.

Definitely, hit Antarctica first! After this, we went to the dolphin feeding. No issues with any lines after that and this was Easter week. Antarctica was like 150 minutes later in the day!

The only planning I would recommend is around shows. You definitely want to hit the Clyde and Seamore (sea lion) show, it's hysterical. And of course the Shamu show is a must-do. Penguins at rope drop is preferable; exhibits near shows that are letting out will be crowded (for example, don't go into Wild Arctic right after a Shamu show lets out), but pretty dead while the show is going on, so if you don't care about a particular show, hit up the animals near it while the show is running. Most of them have about a 30 minute run time.

You didn't say how old the kids were; if they're pretty young, I'd skip the A'Lure show, it's basically Cirque du Soliel and not really entertaining for young kids.

Thank you so much, my girls are 6 and 8 - i will hit Antarctica first, then Journey to Atlantis and the rollercoasters (husband and i) - and when they post the showtimes i will plan around that for the rest of the day.

Thank you all for your help.

We just went this week and had no issues with lines other than the water ride was 55 minutes at 2pm. We had gone on it in the morning with no wait. Manta and Kraken were walk-ons all day. Definitely hit the preshow for Clyde and Seymour(better than the show in my opinion).

We weren't really impressed with the dolphin show. Very visually entertaining show but for us it was too much "show" and not enough dolphins. We wouldn't go back.

Loved the Shamu show - it was in technical rehearsals yesterday!

Just posted this in another thread and thought it might help you too. My best advise would be start on one side of the park and just make a circle, and stay in the area where the shows are that you want to see, so you aren't criss crossing the park to try to make the shows. :)

The Shamu show was closed when we were just there 2 weeks ago, but the "Up Close with Shamu" more than made up for it. You get to see them at a pretty close view and they have them go out and do a couple of jumps and come up on the platforms and "pose" for you. They also have an underwater viewing which was awesome!! I believe the Shamu show is opening again soon and it's an awesome show! The Blue Horizons show, which is the dolphin show that also has birds in it, and some high diving acrobats, is really great! We love this show! We also saw Clyde and Seamore this past time and it was really funny. The sea lions and otter are great, and the walrus at the end of the show is SO big and funny!

If you do the dolphin feeding, try to arrive about 20-30 minutes before the scheduled feeding time, because this is hugely popular and fills up quick. It's $7.00 a person, but in my opinion worth it to feed dolphins.

We didn't ride the rides, but they looked awesome! We have small kids and are there more for the animals.

The only word of caution I have is on the food. Maybe we are just choosing the wrong places, but we've had 2 bad experiences there. The first was a few years ago when we ate at Mango Joe's. We all had the fajita sandwiches, and about an hour after eating that, I was SOOOOOOO sick. I am convinced it was food poisoning. I was literally in the hotel room bed for 36 hours and couldn't move. Literally. I threw up more times than I can count. And felt horrible the next few days. The other 2 adults also had those and both of them became sick too, but not as bad as me. Then this past trip we had hot dogs from Captain Pete's Island Eats. The one my sister got had very weird coloring on it, and ours just weren't that great. We got cheese on ours and I think that helped the taste, but they definitely weren't that good. Next time we'll try the pizza or something else.
