OK - my DH has always wanted to go to WDW for Halloween. We even booked it in 2001, but because of 9/11 we ended up NOT going. :(

So I'm trying to plan a (sort of) surprise trip for him. He knows I'm planning it, but he doesn't want to know where we're staying or what I'm paying.

So I called the Disney Club line to price out a few resorts. My top 3 choices. These are the prices I got:

Polynesian GV $1035.68
Polynesian GV Concierge $1324.62
Contemporary Garden Wing $888.12
Caribbean Beach King Bed $452.10

These rates are for room only for three nights. We will probably get 4 day park hoppers and only use 3 days and save the other days and water parks for a future trip.

Which is the better deal? I did the math and the Polynesian is around $345 per night, the COntemporary is $296 a night and the Caribbean Beach is $150 a night. All these seem high - they are Disney Club rates.

Can I do better? Are room only codes any better? Do you think I should hold the room I want and hope for room only codes?

We are not going to get AP's this time because we booked the Fairy Tale package for our August trip (it came out to be the bigger saver).

So, what should I do? Any thoughts, opinions, advice, etc. is much welcomed! Also, if you got any great deals for the third week in October last year, can you please share them??? Thank you!!!!!!!

What a great suprise!!! I will be there with my wife and 2 year old son for my 30th birthday the same time (10/25-11/1/03).

We are staying at the Boardwalk Villas (I am a DVC member).

All of you choices are great, but have you considered the Tower Rooms at the Contemporary, facing the Magic Kingdom? They are spectacular! Not that it really matters...it's the though that counts!! Hope you have a great time!;)

SORRY... just saw your comments on the FT package... that's what I get for chiming in too soon :o

Just a thought.... did you try and price the FT package? It runs from 7/3 - 10/30 and includes UPH. Sorry if you already know about this. Have a great trip... sounds wonderful!!!

scanne - With a 1 yr old in tow, I would seriously consider Poly or Contemp, especially since it is only for 3/4 days. Can't stress enough how nice it is to just roll the stroller onto the monorail, particularly if baby is sleeping! But it is a BIG price difference. I personally would go for Poly GV. Concierge probably not worth it for such a short trip - you'll be wanting to get into the parks as often as possible. Book the room now, then cross your fingers for some codes to come out!:D

Well if it was me and you guys have never stayed at the Poly I'd go there. The lobby when you walk in is fabulous! Oct is a great time to go. Try Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party if it's going on. The surprise is well worth the work. I surprised my DH last year with a week at GF, it was worth it just to see the look on his face.
