We will be celebrating my Sisters 50something Birthday at WDW. It is the day after my wedding at Wedding Pavillion. I asked her what she would like to do and she said a nice lazy day by the pool and a celebratory dinner in the evening (we will have been there over a week by this time). We are on the Deluxe Dining Plan. DF and I thought it would be nice to go to DTD as we will not have spent much time there and we all love to wander and look around DTD. But none of the places on the DDP look that good for a Birthday dinner at DTD though we did consider Raglan Road but again I don't think it is special enough. We will be 4 adults, 3 teenagers and one 6 year old. One of the adults and the 6 year old a picky eaters. We will have had steak at the wedding reception and a dessert party at Epcot the evening of the wedding so want to avoid steaks. Also as the wedding events are at the Grand Floridian and the dessert party is at Epcot not sure if we want to go back to either of these places, though ordering Cinderalla's Slipper for her Birthday instead of a cake at the GF would be nice instead as I think we will all be caked out by then. I want her to have a really good-fun-special Birthday evening.

I know a lot of restrictions - help me please!

WOW - what a week your family is going to have - CONGRATULATIONS :dance3:

If your sister wants a lazy day by the pool & a nice dinner I don't think I'd be planning anything over at DTD, sounds like everyone is going to be tired from a whole week of fun & your big day ;)

Is everyone staying at the GF? If so, choose one of the restaurants at the other monorail resorts. Everyone can relax at the pool, shower & clean up and easily get to one of those restaurants - or you could even do a Luau if your sister wanted to do that. Contact them in advance for special dietary needs for the 2 picky eaters.

Then if everyone has the energy, you can always go to DTD for some night life action. If not, you could watch the electric light parade on the 7 seas lagoon followed by the fireworks over the MK. I would think any of those choices would make for a great big 5-0!

How about Narcoosee's or Cali Grill? Both are right on the monorail line and both are very nice.

How about citricos in the grand Floridian? It is the perfect place for a special dinner. Oh, and my fiancé had the chocolate slipper sent to our table for my birthday as a surprise, and I almost lost my mind with excitement :rotfl2: not only digit look fantastic, but it tasted fantastic as well! It will definitely make her birthday special;)

We had a wonderful dinner at Portobello at DTD. I think it is definately nice enough for a birthday dinner. One of favorite parts was the wide variety of antipasto.

Nacoossee's is a wonderful place for a special bday celebration. I would skip the slipper and have the Almond crusted cheesecake dessert. I don't really like cheesecake, but that dessert is amazing.

We stayed at CBR when we went. Just take the bus to MK, then take the boat over to the GF, the dock is right outside the restaurant. Try to get a reservation for later in the evening so you can enjoy Wishes and the light parade during dinner.

If you can pry her up and out it would be worth it to take a bus over to Boma for breakfast, then come back to the resort for that lazy day. Easiest bus route to AKL is bus to AK, then bus over to the hotel.

there are some good suggestions there... i love the idea of the luau as a b'day dinner... certainly different from the meal the day before, and they will accomodate the picky people if need be...

raglan road was very good when we dined there, but nothing "special" about it, kwim?

another option, and our family's fave, is the Hoop Dee Doo Revue @ the campground... it's not low key by any stretch, but after a day of R&R, it's a perfect ending :)

last but not least, our family really enjoyed our meal at Artist Point... certainly more than steak to choose from... and you could get the slipper there... and the hotel is completely removed (theme wise) from any of the other places you had spent time (CBR or GF)... a nice change of pace!

also, to make it "special" you might want to consider taking cabs to/from your dinner... removing the "hassle" of the bus for a day...

I'm not talking to fancy here like GF or anything, but I spent my 40th b-day at House of Blues. That's what I wanted and boy was it ever good!! Everyone loved it!! Even the french fries were excellent!!

Congratulations on your wedding!

:goodvibes I mean this is the nicest way possible, but have you had the chocolate slipper??? The presentation within itself is unreal. But I agree , the cheescake is to die for.

Why not have both the chocolate mousse slipper and the almond crusted cheesecake?! :thumbsup2
You can never have too many desserts :rotfl:
