What are you looking for in your camera

Size
what do you shoot
Budget

What shots does your current camera prevent you from getting?

Thanks for any help

many folks here have the canon s3IS I think it is right at close to the top of your budget, but they are very well liked.

I have no personal experience, but I hear the fuji's are the best for low light situtations, don't know models.

Check out dpreview and stevesdigicam for reviews of various cameras.

This is a more interesting comparison than usual as the Fuji S5700 has a "normal" small sensor (1/2.5") while the Olympus Stylus 1000 has a larger 1/1.8" sensor.

However, they're not really comparable, the Olympus is a compact 3x zoom while the Fuji is a larger 10x zoom model. If you want compact, I'd look at something like the Fuji F31 ($213 after rebate), or the S6000 for a long-zoom model. Both have Fuji's (relatively) big 1/1.7" sensor.
