My husband and I absolutely love Illuminations but have managed to miss Fantasmic altogether. I just made reservations at Mama Melrose's and the show for our up-coming Feb. trip.

I would really like opinons on Fantasmic and if anyone has eaten at MM's, how they liked that as well.

Any other information on how the "package" works would really be appreciated. The girl on the phone said you get special seating for having the dining package. Is the extra cost for the meal worth the seats? Are the seats good ones in the theater?

Again, any help would be truly appreciated!!!

Thanks everyone!

The biggest advantage to the Fantasmic Pkg is the fact that you don't have to get to the theater so early. We have always been told to arrive at the special entrance about 30 minutes prior to showtime. All of the seats are good. The dinner pkg seats tend to be on the side of the theater. I have always did the pkg with the idea that we were going to eat somewhere anyway, why not have guaranteed seating? We have eaten at both the Brown Derby and Hollywood & Vine. We haven't eaten at Momma Melrose's, sorry. I hope you enjoy the show, I know that we really like it!

It depends on WHEN you are going to MGM....just saw Fantasmic two nights ago and the park was empty, it was chilly and we just walked in 5 minutes before showtime. Sometimes, you have to line up 2 hours in advance and that isn't any fun. I like what was said above: you have to eat somewhere, so why not get seats included!

Fantansmic is closed, I think, the last week in January...so do make sure that it will be open for your visit.

Have fun!

Thanks for the replies! I guess that generates my next question though, does anyone know what the crowds are like for the show in late February? We have always gone this time of year and love how "empty" the parks are for most everything, but having never been to this show I wouldnt want to take a chance.

TIA

We missed Fantasmic many times, too, because we love Epcot at night, too. But when we finally made it Fantasmic we LOVED it! Very different. Well worth seeing!!

We've eaten at Mama Melrose's and liked it well enough - don't remember loving it, but don't rememebr any complaints either.

We didn't do the package and didn't need it during our last trip in Oct. (trip was Oct 16 - 26 - moderate crowds I guess). We didn't wait in line at all, just went shortly beofre the show started. No wait, but our seats were way in the back. We didn't mind though - we could see plenty.

Next time I would do the package just to play it safe, but it can be done either way -- especially if you are not going at peak times.

Hope that helps!

We did MM Fantasmic Dinner Package on 1/8. Although the food at MM was good, I thought it was overpriced. I enjoyed food at LTT in MK MUCH more!! We liked walking into Fantasmic at the last minute--waiting is really hard for an 8yr old!! However, the theater was not very full when we got in--we could have gotten the same seats on the left hand side of the theater without the dinner package. We would do a dinner package again, but I think I would go to a different restaurant.

P.S. Tag Fairy--this is my 350th post!!! Am I worthy yet???? Still clappin and still believin!!!!

I personally think it is the best live show; no make that the best show period on Disney property.

The number of characters, the water screens, the pyro, and the other effects are just GREAT!

DH just changed our dates to 12/12-12/17, do you think a dinner package is necessary for this time frame, or are the crowds small enough?

Mama Melroses is our favorite restaurant for a lunch date. We have done the package before. It was nice not to have to worry about seats at all.

But this early? I doubt you'll have any issues.
