Help me understand webcerts!

As a relative newcomer to all this, I believe I have read that webcertificates can be used at any on-line stores just like a credit card. Is this true? Do you just get a credit card type number to put into the credit card field? If so, what type of "card" do you check off? Can they also be used at any retailer that takes credit cards? What types of WDW stuff can they be used for? Can you purchase Disney Dollars with them?

Sorry for all the questions, but I have a mypoints balance I am deciding what to do with. Any suggestions for best use of those points?

Webcertificates are MasterCards. Your account number is your "credit card number". The expiration date changes everytime that you add to your WC account .

You can use it anywhere online that takes MasterCard with a few exceptions. PayPal does not accept Webcertificates' MC as payment. You may have trouble on other sites as well.

As far as Disney stuff is concerned, you can use it online at Disneystore.com to purchase anything they offer. Some people have been successful printing out their WC and going to a B&M DisneyStore to purchase Disney Dollars and park passes.

If you spend a few dollars (I can't remember just how many) you can get a plastic Webcertificate MasterCard which works at anyplace that takes MasterCard on or off the web. You can then use it to pay for your room, buy souvenirs, meals etc. It works like any pre-paid credit card or debit card.

I have had a Webbie (I have the Plastic cc)for years now and have never had a problem using it on or offline.
