Help Me Understand The Resale?

Hello again,
I am a new DVC owner!! at SSR, I did buy direct...there are reasons why I did. But now what is this about resale? And can I do this with a direct contract?

I will be interested in more points, because we want to go to Aulani. So sorry if all these questions sound silly, I am new!! lol

First of all, congratulations and welcome home!

Because you bought directly from Disney, there are no restrictions on the points you purchased.

Those who buy resale contracts after 3/20/2011 will be able to use their points to book any DVC resort or to make an exchange via RCI (subject to availability, of course). That means they cannot use resale points to book the other non-DVC options. Some examples of the options not available to resale points purchased after 3/20/2011 include the popular cruise options and the non-DVC Disney resorts, like the Poly at WDW or the Disneyland Hotel at Disney land.

Aulani is a DVC resort, so even resale points may be used to book there. But again, since you bought directly from Disney, you may use your points to book any of the offered options, subject to the booking rules and availability.

I was going to recommend buying Aulani points if you really want to go to Aulani. Unless it's just a one time thing. Then I'd wait until more of the resort gets built and sold.
