We are experts in Disney but are visiting Universal for our second time ever in a few months. I just heard today about the refillable mugs. We will spend Friday, Saturday, and 2 of us will spend part of Sunday at Universal while the other two transition to Disney. It looks like there are 3 options- a sipper and a nicer cup that both cost per refill- is it $1.49 per refill? and then a coke freestyle cup that also includes icees and is free refills the first day and can be reactivated each day after that. Do I have the facts straight? Can anyone offer suggestions?

There are freestyle machines all over the parks with many options and we always get the the freestyle cups.

I think you have it all correct. Orlando Informer has a good article on the refillable cups, so you might want to look there.

We bought some Freestyle cups a few years ago and used them on 2 or 3 trips. We think they are well worth the daily refill price - even better with the AP discount.

Our cups from a few years ago do have the handles so I just loop them both to my backpack while we walk around. I thought we were going to have to replace one cup on our past trip and did notice that the new ones do not have handles. IMO, that makes a big difference - less convenient if you have to carry them. The pouches that @shawthorne44 posted look like a good alternative.
