Okay, I understand that
  • We're limited to one transfer (in or out) per membership per UY.
  • Banked points cannot be transferred but transferred points can be banked.
  • Transferred points will likely not show up online and will probably require a phone call to MS to use them
  • Transferred points do not need to be the same UY, or even the same resort as the membership into which they were transferred.
  • Transferred points retain their home resort and UY.

So here's the scenario:
I have two contracts - same resort, different UYs (Oct. & Dec.). No intention of taking a trip before Oct. 2018. I want to transfer from the Oct 2017 UY into the Dec. membership and then bank the points into 2018. Obviously, that counts as a 2017 "transfer out" for the Oct contract. Does it count as a "transfer in" to the 2016 or 2017 UY for the December contract if I'm currently in my 2016 UY?

Also, do you have to wait until you are actually in your UY in order to transfer the points? IOW, do I need to wait until Oct. 2017 or later to transfer those points or could it be done at any time?

Thanks for any clarification you can offer.

Why do you want to transfer?

:earsboy: Bill
Because we will want to book a GV that year and it will be easier to book the first days online using the points from the December contract and the call to add the days for the rest of the week using the transferred points. If I keep the points with their Oct membership, I won't be able to book the remaining days until the 11-month window opens for the first night, and I would run the risk of not getting them. Then, I still have to have MS link the reservations and hope that we don't have to move mid-trip.

Makes sense. :thumbsup2

Transfers should go to the same use year, 2017 to 2017. That said, I have no idea how DVC tracks the one-per-year rule. Plus, if your contracts are titled the same, they typically don't enforce the rule for transfers between them.
