We recently added a small contract with a different use year (Dec.) than the majority of our points (April). Does the "once a year transfer" allow me to transfer all of those December UY points into the pot with our April UY points? If so, then can I use the transferred points in the same way as the April points with the exception of banking and borrowing? Thanks for your help. :confused3

If they are the same resort, yes, you can book 11 minths out with all points once the transfer is complete. You need to make sure your trip will fall within the proper usage time frame for all the points, or you may need to bank the points AFTER they are transferred.

One drawback to this strategy is future usage...what if you wanted to transfer points in (or out) from another member...you would already have used the transfer limit for both of those memberships and would be unable to make a member to member transfer.

In general, it is much simpler to have a single use year, unless there is a specific reason you want more than one membership number.

Most of our points are in a Sept UY contract. We also have a small Dec UY contract. I usually transfer the Dec into the Sept. Luckily for me, they are the same resort as the majority of my Sept UY contract. They retain the UY and resort when they are transferred. They don't magically become a different resort or different UY.

But remember, you have to transfer your Dec UY into the same year (meaning 2010 into 2010). You can't transfer 2010 into 2011. You can't borrow them into the next UY either. So sometimes you need to be very creative with your transfer.

Sometimes it just works better to borrow or bank points from one UY into the previous UY (Dec 2011 into Dec 2010), make a reservation and link it to a reservation made with the other contract (April).
