I've never sat through a timeshare presentation. I get the jest of how it works, i think. I was checking a resale site and one the chart its says like for value resort '9' is that the number of points? I'm just gathering some information so when we go on our trip and dh loves it, i'll have info to see if this is right for us. I've read through some of the threads, but i can't find a simple 'how it works' thanks.

When you purchase DVC, you purchase a certain number of points that you get each year. You use those points to book nights. There are no DVC value resorts. All of the DVC resorts are considered deluxe. The 9 you are seeing is probably for a value studio at AKV Jambo House, which is a little smaller than a standard studio. It's still in a DELUXE resort though. The 9 means it takes 9 points to stay in this room for one night. So if you owned 100 points and stayed for 5 nights in the value studio, you would be left with 55 points for that year. You can use up to 3 years of points at one time; you bank one year, use points in the current year, and borrow one year. There is a lot more to it, and I'm sure others will add to what I've said. Have fun learning!

Thanks to you both!

The first response, yes that what i wanted to know.

Second response, thanks for the link! Off to read.

If you are visiting WDW soon anyway and you have some time in your schedule, I would recommend to go to the DVC sales center at Saratoga Springs and ask them for a tour.

That should give you a better understanding of how it works as well and you will be able to visit some model rooms also.

For that matter, if you are looking at resales, tour as many DVC properties as you can, so you can choose your home resort based on your preference. It really does make a difference to have the home resort advantage at the place you prefer to stay.
