I have a trip planned for my 14 yo DS to WDW for Christmas. This has been a stressful year and we could really use the time to be together. :santa: We leave early on the 24th. I'll have to do it on the 23rd so I can give him time to pack. Any ideas how to let him know about the surprise? I don't want to just hand him a ticket after keeping it secret for so long.

We have been many times, and I even surprised him with a trip when he was in 4th grade. He is very smart and I'd like to try to present it to him as a puzzle or something. We will be staying at the Boardwalk Villas, and I was thinking about wrapping up a big box that has a wooden board and a leash in it (think "BOARD" + "WALK"), but I don't want him to think he is getting a puppy or something (probably the only gift on par with a Disney vacation).

I have a few gifts for him for when we get there, but mostly it will be "experience" gifts. For example, we have reservations for the Wishes Dessert Buffet on Christmas Eve and reservations for the Candlelight Processional at Epcot during the trip. You have NO IDEA how difficult it has been to keep this from him! :rolleyes1

I just think that after all of the planning, a big reveal would be the icing on the cake. Any suggestions would be great!

you could buy a disney calendar with his favorite character or scene say i want you to open this present early cause it will only last for another week or something and circle the day your to leave a lot he will think when he opens it he received the cheesiest gift until you tell him to open it to December

How about wrapping a big box filled with balloons (w/helium for the effect), with a note and the tickets. The note could read something like..."go pack your bags and get ready to celebrate Christmas with the Mouse!!" Of you course it could be a lot more catchy than that.

Have so much fun...I am sure he will love it either way!

How about a scavenger hunt around the house? Each clue will give him another letter of Boardwalk then he has to solve the letter puzzle to figure it out. - go to the place where you leave your dirty towels on the floor - B - etc. Last clue will tell him to put together the puzzle w/an envelope to open once he figures it out - put the tickets there w/instructions to pack. Or have it spell out pack your bags then open the envelope.

Let us know how it goes! I wish I were able to surprise my family like that! Have a fantastic trip, sounds like you have some great things planned!
