My plan is to send my guys to bed the night before(if I can keep my mouth shut long enough! :rotfl2: ), and then pull them out in the PJS for the ride to the airport. I want to put a few "clues" in their backpacks for the plane ride for them to guess where they are going!
We will also be going to Seaworld and the zoo. This will be their 1st trip to CA and DL-( my eldest was at WDW at 2) :sunny:

What cool "cheap" things can I pack for them? They are 3 and 6.
THANKS!

When is your trip? I'll be at the parks this weekend. I'd be willing to pick up a postcard for each child and see if I can get their favorite character to sign it. PM me with the names and addresses if you'd like.

Also, someone on the Budget Board reported Disney items at Target in the dollar section. The Dollar Tree often has Disney items also. And stock up on glow sticks.

Now as for the other parks, I really don't know. Maybe you can find some cheap stuffed animal to represent the zoo.

Do you think your 6 year old might be a little embarrassed to be in the airport in PJs? I would have have them get dressed - but don't tell them where you are going - do the clues etc that's a really cute idea. Maybe some animal themed things for the zoo - shamu toy for sea world and mickey for DL

We had our 5 YO totally sold that we were going somewhere else. Its a story that took a life of its own and every time we told it, something got added.

We had him convinced that we were going to Arkansas to help me work (not sure how it became Arkansas). The morning we left, we woke him up and told him that the airline called and that they were out of tickets to Arkansas. He was genuinely disappointed!! But we told him that the airlines told him we could go anywhere else he wanted to go..his choice. He honestly kept saying "I dunno". We handed him a DL shirt, DL colorbook, a Mickey hat and kept saying "anywhere u wanna go".

Finally I gave up and said lets go to DL....and lets just say he was all for that.

We brought all kinds of stuff for the plane trip and hotel room time: sticker books, reading books, I Spy-type booklets. I bought stuff from Overstock, the local Disney Store, the online Disneyshopping, and Costco.

Overstock had lots of inexpensive Disney thin reading books that were perfect for carrying on the plane, and they had a wide variety of characters/stories. And I bet you could easily find sticker books or reading books with animals in them.

I told our kids tonight that we will have to take dad to the airport in a couple of weeks because he is going away on business, they wanted to know how long dad would be gone and I said 3 weeks but with the overtime he will be making maybe we can go to DL for Spring Break. HA HA HA HA HA When we drop dad off at the airport dad is going to say, "I think I should skip the business meetings and we should go to DL, what do you guys think?" Of course his suitcases will be packed with our clothes and we will board and be gone!!

That would be Awesome!

I tried the surprise thing too and it kinda backfired on me! Picture this I had the table all set with Mickey party paper plates , woke the kids at 5:30am and brought them down with cameras rolling! handled them backpacks stuffed with Disney color books, stickers, and Disney sweatshirts. They still didn't get it, We told them and the 5 year old was so worried who would take care of the dog and water the trees, I was more excited than they were. Not morning children as you can see! We are going in March for daughter cheer competition and we told them AHEAD of time, Son now 5 and just yeaterday we made the paper chain so he can count down the days to go visually, instead of the how many more days questions!! Good Luck have fun! Oh we had a friend that took the kids to airport to "drop off dad" and when they told they were headed to Disney, so excited one pe*d himself!!
