Hi!!!! I will be taking my Boyfriend to Disneyland on December 13 and 14. I made reservations for us to stay at the Grand Californian and we will be spending one day each at both parks. This will be his first time to Disneyland and I want to plan some extra suprises. Any ideas? I am a S. Californian Native and have been to Disneyland a billion times, but I have never planned a two day trip there. I have never really looked into all the little extra things. Money is really not a problem, I just want to make it a trip to remember. I want to plan a few sit down meals. I also wanted to look into something special similar to the desert buffet for Fantasmic ( I know that Fantasmic is closed this Christmas). Does anyone have any suggestions? SHould I have soemthign special delievered to the room? Any advice would be very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!

Thank You,

Karen

Sounds like fun! I just came back from a 4 night stay at GC and absolutely loved it!!!

Another poster a while ago had something sent to the room that looked cute. It was a DCA stuffed bear (in fact, I think there were 2) and chocolate chip cookies. It was for her anniversary, and they even sprinkled rose petals on the bed! I think you just have to call the hotel and tell them what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. I don't think DL has any kind of catalog or anything.

Napa Rose looks like a great place to have dinner. Unfortunately we didn't get to try it, but we went on the hotel tour (2:30 every afternoon, about an hour), and they took us in. There's a great view of Grizzly Peak. If that's not your style, we really enjoyed Storyteller's Cafe. We ate dinner off the menu (corn chowder is excellent!), but the buffet looked pretty good too...we just weren't hungry enough.

Check to see if the Main Street Electrical Parade is on the 14th, which is Friday. If it is, I think DCA has something where you can get reserved seating. I'm not sure if they serve dessert though.

Happy planning! Sounds like it will be a great trip!

Blue Bayou for either lunch or dinner is always great. It is worth waiting to ask for a table by the water too!

Hubby and I went for our anniversary this last year and stayed at GC it was great.

I suprised him by having milk and cookies waiting for us in the room, along with a bear (rafting bear from DCA). The hotel staff went above and beyond. They covered the bed with rose petals and put out the robes. It was wonderful.

This is the link to the mini trip report and photos (including how they did up the room).

Just wanted to add something to what Tink said about GC...there is also an OUTSIDE fireplace, which is very romantic. Apparently what some people before us did was get drinks from the Hearthstone Lounge, which has a door right there, and sat outside by the fireplace.
