Help me stuff an *older* person's Stocking!

this is maybe for a bigger present -- we did this for a lady's 90th birthday.

We bought a basket and labeled it "trip around the world". Then we filled it with all kinds of foods/treats/candy. We went to World Market and bought some chocolate from Germany, some Walker's cookies from Scotland, some lemon curd from England, wasabi crackers from China, etc.

We filled the basket. SHE LOVED IT. She would tell us "oh, and yesterday I opened the cookies from Holland!" on and on.

It's a good thing for an older person to be so excited about opening all these little things.

See my grandmother would nver go into a restaurant. She feels that it is a waste and refuses to go. But she will take a grocery store giftcard.

My grandma loved Long John Silvers! Of all places, that's the place she always picked when we would take her out to eat. And she stop and talk to some other old people who were there and later we'd ask "Granma, who was that lady you were talking to?" and she'd say "Oh - I don't know. But I think I've seen her around."

My mom gave her aunts (in their 70's) scarves. They loved them. Every time they see her they have to comment on how fantastic they are.

All the suggestions here are fantastic. Sometimes it is the little things that matter.

Pre-measured packets of flavored coffee for their coffee maker (think Godiva or similar)

I always give my mom little fancy jars of jaelly and jam and she LOVES that! She would never buy it for herself, but it's one thing that she won't say "too much" if you give it to her. ACtually any types of nibbles from a gourmet food store would probably be well enjoyed, and not something she would ever buy for herself.

Don't know if anyone mentioned slippers with non-skid soles.

Some fancy fridge magnets--unless you know she won't put magnets on her fridge.
