This is my first time posting to this thread. Please, Please help me stay motivated to lose 40 lbs by my 5/28/05 disney trip. I think i'm doing pretty good. I started 1/2/05 and I have already lost 8lbs just by cutting back on what i eat and walking my stairs 40-50 up and 40-50 downs at least 5 days a week. Is 40 lbs too much to ask to lose my 5/28/05? :cheer2: :cheer2:

to start with and modify if necessary.

I've lost 23 lbs in 2 months so it's doable, but you have to stay motivated. I use the challenges each month (exercise and weight). I aim for 5 lbs and work for more.

Keep posting it helps to know the WISHers are here to back you...

Welcome!

Welcome!!! You can do this!!! :cheer2: Keep on posting! We'll help you! :cheer2:

I'm here I'm here!!!! Let's work this out....
There are 16 weeks between now and then...If you lost 2 pounds a week you'd be at 32 pounds..so working in 3 pounds a week for some of those 16 would put you there....But don't knock yourself if you don't...32 pounds off is STILL AWESOME and with exercise (stairwalking is great) and varying up your exercise you'll have your muscles working for you...the quickest way to help boost your loss is using your large muscle groups (legs/abs/gluts/shoulders) the stair climbing will definitely push you legs...long walking (45 minutes straight will elongate your muscles and use different ones than running...so if you're a runner switch it up by running one day walking the next), swimming is AWESOME for all those areas if you have access to a lap pool, and videos that focus on AB's will really help too...exercising will help two fold...they require more calories so if you don't feed them they'll take from the fat...and someone who has 10 extra pounds of developed muscle actually looks like they're 10-15 pounds smaller than someone without developed muscle...so even if you don't lose exactly 40 with 16 weeks to resculpt your body you could easily look like you did!!!!

I hope I made sense...and for a food challenge give up 2 things for the next 16 weeks that are stumbling blocks for you...for me it's french fries and white flour products...I never realized how much I ate of both of those...just by cutting those out I'll probably lose 5 pounds in the next 2 months without trying!:)

YOU CAN DO THIS!! We don't know when we're going to Disney..the day we sell our home and move into the next one...we'll be there...who knows maybe we'll be there May!!! I hope not need for it to be much sooner but it would be great to give you a great fit and healthy hug!!!

Hi Princess,

I too am looking to loose 40 lbs. before my next WDW trip in May. We will be there May 16th. I just had my third baby 4 months ago, and I am REALLY having a hard time losing it. I have lost 12 lbs. so far, and suddenly hit a plateau. I think I finally busted through it.

I learned one important thing recently... even though I am trying to cut calories, I have really picked up the exercise. The reason I hit a plateau for so long, was that I was not taking in enough calories. My body was going into "starvation mode". I was expending more calories than were coming in, so it made sense that I should be loosing weight, right? But if your body thinks it is starving, it stores calories. Therefore, the weight does not come off.

Here is what I am doing to try to loose those 40 lbs. I am keeping a food journal. It really helps to see what you are putting in your body. It helps you keep your ideal number of calories. I am very active, and excercise 5-6 days a week for 1.5 hours at least. I WAS consuming 1200-1500 calories a day. It turns out that it was not enough. I decided to boost it to 1800 - 2000 calories. It seems to be working now.

If you have a gym membership, that's great. But I know it can get expensive. If you don't, get some hand weights at 3,5, and 8 lbs. Do a ton of lounges ans squats. I do 3 sets of 25 each. Then be sure to do your upper body as well. Chest presses, bicep curls and trycep exercises help a lot. Remember that lifting weights will help build muscle, which helps burn fat.

I also went to GNC and bought Green Tea. It helps to burn fat.

I hope this helps. I would love to cheer you on! I need some cheering too! It you need someone to talk to, e-mail me at secox28@msn.com.

Good luck... I am here for you! :cheer2:

Keep this in mind when you are hungry... It can take up to six weeks for your body to break-down a single french fry. I haven't eaten one since I found that out!!!

Hi Princess!

Glad you have come aboard. I do not have a journal on here yet, but I do keep a food journal on my computer so I can see how many calories I am consuming a day. What I have noticed about myself is that it is difficult for me to make food. I often find myself taking low carb meals to work, and eating an Atkins bar for breakfast or a low carb muffin and tea. I think this has helped me lose the most amount of weight because I am able to control my calorie intake a lot better. I was very sick earlier last month, and I was so tired I did not know what was wrong. Turned out I had a terrible sinus infection. So now I feel better, but I have not gone back on the treadmill. I was able to lose around 10 lbs between the fifth of Jan and now.
I want to lose a total of 40 between now and June 12. I am going to just take one step at a time.

I think the thing is that you can not get discouraged if you do not drop as many pounds as you would like. I am really trying to look at this as a lifestyle change, and not something that is going to change once I achieve my goal.

Good luck to you, and I will keep in touch

Connie

That is so great for 8 days - wow, congrats! Keep it up and you will be sitting by the side of the pool in your new bathing suit looking fantastic before you know it!

You are doing great!!! Keep it up!!! My only bit of advice would be to not get hung up on the number on the scale. Sometimes when you add in lots of exercise and eat healthy foods, the scale may not go down as quickly as you like, but your clothes will look and feel better. According to several studies, a healthy weight-loss is 1% of your body weight each week. I think you are doing awesome! I just know from my own experience how frustrated I would get at that scale number, and I would let it ruin my momentum. All the WISH-ers are here for you! Keep up the great work!!!!
