Hello all! We are planning a trip May 15-23, and my kids are DYING to stay at a resort on the monorail. There has to be a way to make this cheaper.... I've gotten the 20/30/40 pin, it doesn't help much since there's not many rooms left in the discount block. Is there anything else I can do? THANK YOU!

If there are any rooms left, you can book one. Otherwise, no - There's nothing else you can do.

The contemporary is the least expensive. but if you cant get a room with the discount code there is not much you can do, maybe see if free dining or something comes out?

I have to disagree. Maybe it depends on the time of year, but I just upgraded my room only ressie from POFQ to AKL (using my 20/30/40 PIN) for our trip in October and AKL was cheaper than the Contemporary and WL. At least for the rooms that showed available on the website. I was very surprised, but also very excited :)

To the OP, I know you said monorail resort, but we stayed at WL two years ago and loved the proximity to MK and the boat ride there is WONDERFUL, and quick :)

PP was referring to the 3 monorail resorts. Of the 3, the Contemporary is the least expensive.

You could wander over to the DVC rental board and find out if there is any availability at BLT and if yes then look into renting points for a studio. For the dates you stated, it would only be 153 points to stay in a standard view studio so if there is availability and you rent points for it (you can likely get points at $10/point) then that's only $1530 for the room. Of course you still have tickets and food to pay for but that's pretty good for a studio on the monorail.

I agree, if nothing else is available on the monorail, Wilderness Lodge would be a good compromise. It would be a LOT cheaper too.

THis is a good idea, however I would think at this late date BLT is completely booked. If you want to go this route I would look for existing DVC reservations that people are hoping to unload, I think that would be your best shot. I think they can only post those on this board within a certain time frame, close to the reservation. Other boards may have more lax rules about selling of existing reservations.

You said there aren't many rooms left that are eligible for the discount rate. This implies that there are SOME rooms left -- just not many. Can't you book one of the rooms that is left?

Or did you mean to say that there aren't any rooms lefts at the discount rate in a category you can afford?

I know that there were garden view rooms available at the Grand Floridian about 10 days ago and am willing to bet there are still more of those left. Those with a 40% discount are a pretty good rate for a deluxe on the monorail.

OP is looking for May. All public offers for this time frame came out long ago. Very tough to get a discounted room at this point I'd say.

You should keep trying at least once or twice a day. That happened to me last year and I kept trying and was able to get a discounted room at the Poly about 3 weeks before we arrived. You may also want to try AAA. Even though we usually book thru Disney Travel, I've heard that AAA can sometimes get other discounts on rooms. Good luck!

Check Orbitz and Expedia. I have gotten sold out rooms at good prices from both of these sites in the past. I think they get a block of rooms to sell, sometimes at the same discount Disney is giving, and they sometimes have rooms left when Disney Reservations is out of discounted rooms.
