Help Me Prepare For Early December

We've been in April, May, June, July (?) August, September and October but never the "colder" months. I've heard it can be pretty cold in the mornings/evenings (like in the low 40's?) but what can we expect during the day? I'm bot sad and excited to have to go then, sad because I like my vacations to be hot and excited to see the Christmas stuff. Are shorts and tees likely to be out of the question entirely? How about swimming? It just won't seem like WDW to me without the hot sun baking me! What other changes in the parks can I expect? Thanks!!

This past December, we went the second week. We were in shorts and tshirts during the day but long shirts and long pants during the mornings and evenings. We took hoodies for our late nights and early mornings. We did take hats, gloves and winter coats but never used them. I never even used the blanket I took for DD. We did swim on 2 days but then on the last day DD 'ran out of clothes' and explored parks in a hoodie and long pants. I personally could not get into the Christmas spirit with the warm weather but there were plenty of Christmas decorations around.

We love December. We have gone during the seconded week and loved it. The weather was great it was in the upper 80's during the day and 50's at night. We never wore pants just maybe a sweatshirt. We swam every day. You'll have a great time!

December trips require a little bit of everything. Definitely pack layers. I've been there when the temps have been in the low 80's and other times when the daily high was 55. My best advice is to pay attention to the weather. We were there last December and froze our tookuses off. The mornings and evenings were in the upper 30's. We packed accordingly but the trams back to the parking lots almost killed this southern girl. LOL

With that said, the holidays at WDW are just beautiful and I'm excited you'll get to go! Don't miss the Candlelight Processional!

We go in December and layers are the rule.This past year we had a heat wave and 80 degree days till the end of our trip, and then we were in jeans and jackets.I have been on many trips where it was hot one day and cooler the next.Most days we wear shorts and a sweater or light jacket in the morning and in the evening

We go every Dec, and as others have posted you get all kinds of weather! For the most part though, the days are great. The morning can be a little colder and the evenings chilly, but it is still just 'sweatshirt' weather for us!

We pack everything, we have had days the kids were in the pool, and we have had days it was colder.

It is great in December!!

We went in Dec 2007. It was very nice. It was perfect weather the whole time. We wore shorts and t-shirts and while it was very warm (80s, 70s) during the day, it went down to the 60s at night. It was cool, but not too cold. We brought light jackets along with us to wear at night for the fireworks shows.

I haven't been in December yet but I'm hoping to this December for 5 days. I'm going to use that website to help me prepare for the weather.

I know I'm figuring on bringing 2 pair of jeans, winter hat, gloves and scarf, plus 2 long sleeve shirts and 4 t-shirts for layering (plus the one I'd be wearing flying down). I'm thinking of tossing in 2 pair of shorts just in case the weather is warm. I'll probably have my hoodie and my light fleece coat with me for layering.
I hate to be cold!

Thanks for all the replies! I feel a lot better now, we can totally handle 50's, we're yankees. We'll be sure to pack lots of layers to be safe.

What/when is the Candlelight Processional? I've heard of it but never paid too much attention since I was never planning to go that time of year. Is it free?

Bumping. I'd like to hear more about people's early December trips and what they did differently than in the hot months.

We try to go every year in early-December. It's amazing to see all the holiday decorations. The Osborne Family Lights at DHS are not to be missed. Mind-blowing! The Candlelight Processional is neat. DH and I went before we had kids. Ours are too little to sit through it, but I'd like to take them someday. It's at EPCOT, and it's not free. You have to get tickets for it. Some of the restaurants do a "package" where you eat and then have tickets to the CP and maybe a special line for entry. (I'm not sure about that last part.) When we went last December, we had days of HOT and days of being bundled up. It's all luck of the draw. Have a great trip!

Well, we have worn coats and gloves as well as shorts and t-shirts, all in the same week in December. About 5 years ago, we hit a cold week and it really was COLD. We however do not mind that. We were at the WL and that just seems like a cold weather place anyway. Being a little cold makes it easier to feel like Christmas. The decorations are lovely and the MVMCP is fun. It's a nice time to visti!
