Hello,

My husband & I have made plans to stay at POR in September. I keep having reservations about POR - I think we would both LOVE WL - but just did not really want to spend the extra $500 to stay there. I am afraid I will regret that choice.

This is the first time we have stayed on property with WDW. I was a cast member in the late 80's - I worked in the Resorts Human Resources Dept. - I help open the CBR. Unfortunately - we never stayed on property - could never justify it when we live so close to WDW.

We will be celebrating our 18th Wedding Anniversary. I would like input from you all that have stayed at these resorts - would it be worth the extra $$ to switch. I am really confused. We are under the free dining plan & purchased 10 day premium passes - I had ready that maybe I should consider AP instead of the 10 day - especially since we will probably come back again within the next year.

Thanks for any help you can give!!

Teresa,
We have stayed at WL and absolutely loved it. We also stayed at CBR and POR. We like all of them. You choice of POR will not disappoint you. It is a beuatiful resort. You can take a nice romantic carriage ride! We did it here and at FW and liked POR carriage ride the best.
All 3 resorts are nice but WL has my heart!

IMO, and you know what they say about those, I would not spend the extra money on WL or AK but I would not stay at POR as my first choice of a moderate either. Did you consider POFQ? I think it is the best moderate that Disney has with CSR second to it. The size of FQ is just right and I think it is much more romantic, you did say you were celebrating your anniversary didn't you. Please don't compare all the other moderates to CBR. I think because CBR was the first moderate they kinda skimped on the extras and it really shows at this resort. Thank goodness they learned from their mistakes and every moderate after that was much better.

You probably would be better off with an AP for that length of stay and because you mention that you will be going back within a year. I think you can book your free meal package with a one day ticket in order to qualify for the package. Make the ticket non-expiring so you can use 20 years from now and use your AP.
Think about the FQ, maybe you can change your reservation.

Remember you have to buy tickets as part of the package to get free dining, though you can just buy one day. IMO, the free dining is worth it!

I've stayed at POR and really liked it but have never stayed at WL. We considered it but decided to stay at CSR for the second time. I like POFQ too but prefer POR, partially because of the restaurant and the pool area. I love the way POR looks - it's beautiful.

Think about what you'll do with the $500 that you save. Do you want to do any extras like La Nouba or Keys to the Kingdom? How much time will you be at the resort or will most of your time be spent at the parks? If you plan on being at the resort and using the facilities a lot, you might find your $500 well spent.

You'll have a good time no matter what you decide!

POR is a great resort We love it there and are going back in Sept. 05

POR is nice but IMO if you can afford it stay at WL especially since you're celebrating your Anniversary. We've stayed at many resorts from All Stars to GF and Home Away From Home. We love the WL. It's very special! :flower:

WL is my favorite resort, but I have stayed at POR and thought it was fantastic. I do not think you will regret staying at POR. They have wonderful entertainment in their lounge in the evenings. The boat ride to DTD is very nice and a short ride to many dining options. Our room was in Oak Manor and it was a very convenient location.
Advantages to WL would be queen size beds(POR has double-but you can request a king), all under one roof and the fantastic lobby and ambience. It does also have Artist Point for a fancier dining option.
