Hey there. I am taking my best friend to WDW and Universal in 3 months. And I have no idea wha1t is the best at Universal. I've never been. Please help with anything at all!?

I'd start with this sticky first and then ask specific questions. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1353733 Without knowing what type rides you like or how many days you will be there, it would be hard to answer. It would be like someone asking you to tell them everything you know about Disney. That could take you days.

Do you know about tickets and the rides at Universal, are you styaing at one of the onsite hotels, do you like thrill rides and also like the shows, how many days will you be there, whill you be travelling during peak or non-peak times, what are the ages in your group, will there be small children, etc?

The best things to do on the DIS is to check out the trip reports and stickies on top of the board to see what others have asked. Also...check out the website to get a general idea of what the parks are like. What types of rides do you like? Are you staying onsite? Let us know some general information and we can go from there.

Do you think it's best to read recent TRs or TRs that were from trips that happened about the same time last year as when we'll be going this year?

Already read through all the stickies. Just trying to figure out which set of TRs would be more helpful - last May's TRs or ones from the beginning of this year?

Each trippie is different.
You are seeing the park from different eyes.

It gives you an over view of how the parks can be on some days.

Some posters talk about times for a ride, their thoughts on the park and rides, what they ate and things to avoid.

No matter how old the trippie is, there is something you can find out of them that might be helpful to you on your upcoming trip.

The stickies are very good to read.
They were started with the intention of helping newbies to the Universal parks and hotels.

read the stickies and it will fill you in on many things.

check out the menus at allears.net for universal.
some of them are outdated on prices but the food is pretty much the same as listed.

Since you like thrill rides, i would recommend these rides:

At islands of Advenure: Incredible Hulk coaster, Dueling Dragons coaster, Jurassic Park river Adventure, Dudley Do-rights Ripsaw Falls, Dr. Doom's Fear Fall, and Cat in the Hat (even though it's not a thrill ride--I suspect you will still like it.)

At Universal Studios: The Revenge of the Mummy Coaster, Men in Black Alien Attack, The Simpsons (which is a simulator), Jaws (a quiet boat ride ;) ), Disaster, and the brand new Rip Ride Rocket coaster (if it is open by the time you go)

You will have express passes (front of the line) because of your room key so you shouldn't have trouble riding and seeing everything you like. I would plan on at least one day at each park.

To piggy back what Phamton said...

Make sure you ride both sides of Dueling Dragons. Ice and Fire have different track layouts...not just colors.
