After the new F! shows were added in December, I wanted to change a couple of days around but have not been able to find a replacement Mickey or Donald ADR for our current Donald's Safari one. I've spent hours and hours online trying for either a Safari ADR on what would be our new AK day, a CM breakfast for our Epcot day thinking we could just head to Epcot late morning, a Garden Grill dinner on our Epcot day, or a CM dinner on one of the days we would have just headed back to our FW cabin. No luck.

This morning I checked again and nothing. Then just for ducks, I checked Cape May Cafe and was able to get a 7:55 AM ADR on our Epcot day. I think this may allow me to switch to the schedule I think would be better, but I'm stuck in the pondering mode.

1. Is the Cape May Cafe breakfast worth giving up the Donald's Safari breakfast? I think my husband would love having bagels and lox at Cape May but I was really looking forward to the fritatta at Donald's. Are the pastries comparable? Character interaction? Overall environment?

2. 7:55 AM is earlier than I would have liked and I'm worried about how long it will take us to get from FW to Beach Club Resort. I'm thinking that maybe a taxi would be the simplest and fastest way for us to get there?? But would a taxi take all six of us in it? How long do you think it would take to get there?

3. I think I remember reading somewhere at some point that you can walk from Beach Club Resort to Epcot. Is that true? If so, how long does it take? And would we end up at the front entrance?

I've been really looking forward to Donald's Safari Breakfast so this is a tough decision. I don't really know anything about Cape May Cafe, though, so maybe switching would be perfectly fine. The allears reviews of Cape May breakfast look great, and that is giving me hope.

Any help you can provide this pathetic over-thinker would be appreciated. Thanks!

I haven't been to Tusker House, so I can't compare, but I can tell you Cape May was excellent! Food was great, service was great, and the character interaction was great. I also like that it was "quiet" for a character meal. When I went there were scrambled eggs, a cheese and pepper omelet, bacon, sausage, breakfast pizza, bread pudding, asparagus, potatoes, Mickey waffles, REAL Maple syrup (not the maple flavored sugar syrup), biscuits, gravy, oatmeal, grits, yogurt with toppings, lots of good fruit, maybe 10 different pastries, the bagel and lox bar....everything I had, I enjoyed.

My Grandma was with me and she's lactose intolerant, so they made her some eggs to order since the scrambled eggs and the omelet had dairy. They also made her special waffles from a non-dairy mix.

A taxi would be the quickest way to get there, but you would probably need to take 2. Or if you called the night before and arranged it, some of the taxi companies might have vans so you could go in 1 car. If you take a taxi, the ride will be about 20 minutes. I think you would be ok if you left FW at 7:30.

Yes, it is a short walk from the BC to Epcot, but it puts you at the International Gateway entrance, which goes in to the WS between the UK and France Pavilions. You can then walk up to Future World from there....I would say going from Cape May to Future World is maybe....20 minutes?

All 11 of us in our family much much prefer Tusker House over Cape May. Food is much better. However, the service at Cape May was better (of course, the place was 3/4 empty last time, lol) and it is quieter. We stay at BC or BCV more than any other resort and it's convenient if we are staying there but I don't think I'd travel there (just my opinion).

If you give yourself enough time, bell services should be able to get you a van taxi. They have them; we've taken them. There probably will not be one sitting at the resort but bell services should be able to call one for you.

It's a 5 minute walk from Cape May into Epcot's International Gateway. I don't think it's ever taken us 20 minutes to get to Future World.

Thanks for all of the info and for sharing your wonderful pictures! I think you sold me on going with this new breakfast. I like the idea of a quieter character meal and the food looks yummy. Timing wise, it'll actually also fit in nicely with our mid-afternoon Tutto reservation.

Thanks again! :goodvibes

Uh-oh - you think the food is much better at Tusker House? What don't you like about the food at Cape May?

I'll try to arrange in advance for a van taxi.

I think that Tusker House has some different breakfast food as there is a section with African food.

I haven't had breakfast at Cape May Cafe. I did go to dinner there and it was very good.

Tusker house is a great breakfast, but if you have already done it, I would definitly do Cape May, especially since it is your epcot day.
We are trying Cape May this january,I heard from some family members that it was wonderful and the character interaction is great!

We REALLY enjoyed CMC breakfast. They characters were very interactive and you were never waiting around for them to come and see you. The food was tasty and fresh and the waitstaff was really on top of everything. The atmosphere was jovial but a bit quieter than other character breakfast that I have been to. This was a def. plus for me as youngest DD was a bit afraid of the loud noises when she was a baby. If you haven't been there yet I would def. recommend going:) Have fun!

It is much less hectic than park character breakfasts, and the food is good. The characters are in bathing attire, and it is really cute. The walk to EPCOT is quick and easy from BC. To each his own, but I am not tempted at all by the food in general at AK, and would not make a special trip there for breakfast.

Have a great trip!

We LOVED Tusker House, but have never done Cape May so I can't really compare. The food is delicious at Donald's Safari Breakfast though. I've heard great things about Cape May though and my husband and I are planning on going there on our next trip. I think both would be great choices. :)

On the only and only WDW trip we've taken so far, we were able to do both breakfasts. The food is comparable at both. If anything I would say Cape Mae's food is a tad bit better (as we loved the asparagus and breakfast pizza they offer). The only real advantage of Tusker House over Cape Mae is that you get to see more characters. At Tusker House you see Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Pluto, and Goofy. All 5 characters at Tusker House wear their safari outfits. At Cape Mae Cafe you see Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Pluto. All 4 characters wear their beach outfits. Logistics wise, it would make more sense for you to go to Cape Mae Cafe that morning. Also, since you've already done Tusker House and never been to Cape Mae Cafe before, do give it a try. My DD has declared Cape Mae Cafe a "must do" for our next trip to the World. You will not be disappointed with Cape Mae Cafe. Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

I'm going to settle in with our Cape May ADR. We actually have never done Donald's or Cape May, but it sounds like both are wonderful. I was looking forward to getting into AK early, but I also like the idea of having a less hectic character breakfast.

I'll miss Mickey at Donald's, but I REALLY like the idea of Donald walking around the restaurant at Cape May and not just standing outside for a photo op.

My kids are most interested in having a meal with Donald and Goofy, so they'll be happy.

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I think you made a great choice..but I just wanted to let you know that I don't think Donald is just outside for photos. We have been to Tusker House twice and both times he went table to table like all the others. :)

Unfortunately, the talk has been he doesn't do that anymore - that he greets you as you enter, you get a picture taken with him, and then they try selling it to you during breakfast for $30 or something crazy like that. I think that really stinks. :-(

Thanks for the update on Donald.

Thanks for the update on Donald.

^^^ Wow! I didn't know Donald has been pulled out. I'm soooo glad we went to Tusker House when Donald was going from table to table like the rest of the characters. ::yes::
