Hi all,

We have our first (and only I am sure) trip to WDW!! :cool1:

I am planning on telling him Easter morning at Grandpa's and want to surprise my son with the news. I was thinking of putting some clues in a few easter eggs.

Any ideas on a poem that i can split up into a few clues to tell him the news?

He is 11 by the way?

I am stumped and cannot come up with anything.

Thanks

Steph

1. The Easter Bunny has a surprise...can you figure out my clues?
2. If you could go anywhere, where would you chose?
3. Your parents want to take you somewhere sunny.
4. Though its gonna cost them lots of money.
5. Can you think of a place where the sky can change green, purple and yellow?
6. How about a place that you can see a "rodent fellow"?
7. There is also some pirates and a few princesses too.
8. Disney World is the place that we are taking you!!

Ok here are some ideas. Maybe you could do a egg hunt with the clues inside and he has to open them up in order. (write the numbers on the eggs)

OMG April,

That is sooo good. I am going to use those.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I told my dad what i wanted to do and he said he thinks it is a bit excessive, but whatever:cloud9:

That will work out perfect. I have to put something about grandma and grandma since they are paying for most of the trip for me and my son. It is just us going. I am soo excited I am about to burst.

Thank you sooo much that is sooo awesome. I am not a good rhymer.

Yes, I already have the plastic eggs that open and u can put stuff inside. I have a chocolate mickey, ( actually make that two) and mickey card, some disney flashing pins, and some mickey stickers, ;) forgot have brochures too for all the parks.

I was going to put the stickers on each clue but that would give it away. so maybe i will put those in the easter basket with the chocolate to be found after the eggs.

Awesome. Thanks

Steph

Wow April, what a wonderful poem and ideas. I will have to save it for the next time, if there ever is one.

Brighteyes, do the special clues with your Easter hunt and never mind your dad. My DD and DH LOVE to look for clues when we do something special, it makes you so excited. So enjoy your DS's enjoyment and take some photos!! They can be included with your Disney photos after the trip.

For some stuff in the clues you could get some Disney pins. They are small enough to fit in the eggs. Maybe a tiny plane, if you are flying.

Have a wonderful time!! Happy Easter!!

Suz

well, April's was so good, I have nothing to add. LOL Make sure you put some Disney stuff in the easter basket as hints, too. Dollarama has lots of Disney-themed gear.

Wow you are creative and talented!! Great poem.:thumbsup2

My Grandmother always wrote out clues for us to find our Easter treats at her house. There were many Grandchildren, so to make sure we all got the same number of treats, she gave us mini poems written on paper eggs to tell us where to look. This year she is doing this for her Great Grandchildren (There is 7 so far). But my son has a nut allergy, so he will get US$ instead of the homemade molded chocolate she gives the others.

MousekaMaddie - I would, but I don't have any disney dollars. I am in ONtario, and don't know where to get any. It's too late now for Easter.

Pl'smama - I already went to the dollar store. I have a giftcard with mickey on it. His chocolate is a big mickey. I already have i think 3 flashing disney pins. 1 Buzz Lightyear, 1 mickey and 1 pumba.

I was going to put them in the eggs with the clues, but that will give it away. The mickey card will say the last one about going to disney. So after he figures it out, he will get the easter basket with everything. I don't want to give it away on the first clue.

Here's hoping it works. I can't wait to see his reaction. Do 11 yr olds freak out about disney? I have always told him if we win the lottery, that is the first thing I would want to do. :dance3:

Thanks guys, I will let you know how it goes.

OH MY LOL What a great poem I hope you dont mind me saving it for when we go in July as this would be a great thing as our kids dont know we are going they know we are going to see my husband family but they dont know about Disney LoL and its like a 20hrs drive so it would be fun to have clues along the way

OMG what a great poem!

I tried to do something for my daughter for Christmas....She is 9!
What I did was got a Disney Princess calender. I put stickers on important dates..birthdays, sporting events, valentines etc...I asked her to go through and see if We missed anything and when she got to April, I had Disney stickers and letter stickers spelt out with Disney World marked for the whole week with airplane and luggage stickers. In her Disney Christmas bag there was also a kids digital camera and 2 disney photo albums from $1 store and a disney wallet with an american $20. It all came together..and she FREAKED!
I tried to get Disney dollars to put in Easter eggs as well but didn't know they existed until to 2 weeks ago. So for Easter, she's getting Disney croc's, tinkerbell sunglasses..Keep the theme going....:rolleyes1

Good Luck..no matter what you do your child will be ecstatic!pirate:

Ok so here's how easter went. The Easter Bunny came to our house this am because last year he didn't believe and the Easter Bunny skipped our house. Dinner wth the family was postponed due to a fam member not being able to make the drive. So I told my DS we would go visit granpa anyways since its Easter.

I had told my DS that I had only gotten him something small that he would get when the whole family gets together for easter.

I also changed the clue that said your parents are taking you to say Grandpa and Grandma are sending you, since they are paying for most of it.
I had 6 eggs, all numbered with the first 6 clues in in. The 6th egg, after clue 6 I wrote, "Now for your final clue, find the envelope addressed to you."

SO he had to find first 5 eggs and not allowed to open them until he had them all. So he opened them and read them one at a time, (He was confused and thought we were going to a local amusement park) :lmao:
Did not clue into the "rodent fellow" which was good cause I did not want him to figure it out till he read all of it.

So after reading clue 5, then went in search of the 6th egg which was with his basket of disney stuff and the envelope taped to the bag.
Got the 6th egg, and it said "Can you think of a place you can see a rodent fellow?, then instructed him to go find his card which said the last two clues on a mickey card. He still did not get it until he read DISNEY WORLD.

I was about to burst from excitement, and my DS says calmly "Really we're going to Disney?" I was the one jumping up and down:banana: I think he was in shock lol In his Easter bag, I had some Disney flashing pins, a laynard with a chapstick on it, he always wanted mine, and a Disney chocolate Mickey Mouse.

He is more excited now that is has sunk in a bit,and grandpa showed him pics. But all that planning and he wasn't freaking out like I thought he would. :rolleyes1 OH well he is happy and excited that we get to go on a vacation together since we've never really had one, but has informed me that he does not want to wear shorts???!!! I am trying to explain to him that it is 95 or higher, he just does not get it:confused3

One of the first things he asked is there people to do stuff for you at the hotel??:confused3 like clean your room?

We came home and watched an old planning DVD but he said he doesnt want to see any more pics cause he doesnt want to know what it looks like till he gets there.

As for my paranoia about him finding out, as I have foolishly left things out that I thought he had for sure seen, never mind being on these boards 24/7 and he says he didn't have a clue.

Thanks guys, even though he wasn't jumping up and down like his crazy mom he is still happy and excited but says it will be too hard to wait that long.

Hope you all have a good Easter.

Steph
