help me plan my vegetarian dining for Disney and universal...9 whole days :)

Oooh, I'm going to LeakyCon, too :) I'm so unbelievably excited!

I went to Infinitus last year, and stayed in RPR, we didn't have much money, and din't want to go far from the hotel to find food during the Con, so we ate as much as we could at the buffet breakfast, which lasted us for breakfast and lunch, and grabbed as much fruit/cereals/rolls as we could to have as snacks during the day. If I remember correctly I had a vegetarian pizza one night at one of the hotel restaraunts, and Jake's Bar by the pool has really nice food, including salads and vergetarian soups. Also, AMAZING cocktails :)

cocktails....excellent tip ;)

In City Walk there is also a Moe's Southwestern restaurant. We ate there a lot since I'm the only one in the family that is vegetarian.

Oh, and the veggie burger at Bubba Gumps is actually a mushroom burger, but regardless, still the best veggie burger I've EVER eaten and I'm not even a big mushroom person.

Inside the parks (Universal, IOA), I ate a lot of veggie pizzas. There are also fruit stands around that had really good ripe fruit. Seems like Richter's Burger joint had a veggie burger, but it was your common burger, nothing to write home about.

YUMMO great tips anniebean....you're a lifesaver

i ate vegetarian at V&A last june..
without a doubt, THE best meal i have EVER had in my life, whether vegetarian or carnivore...

worth every penny and then some!!!!!

I read about it and it sounds amazing but I just can't afford that much right now...maybe on a different trip

anyone have any budget dining ideas out there....I am not on the dining plan so I will be paying out of pocket for everything. I haven't set a budget for dining but I usually only spend about 100 dollars on a trip for food.

I know Moe's at universal is cheaper and sunshine Seasons is reasonable. Any other great cheaper eats out there? How about a sweet tomatoes is there one of those near universal or disney?

there is a sweet tomatoes near universal (on I-drive, about a block from wet and wild) and another one right next to downtown disney (in the crossroads shopping center)...

they're both great....and yummmmmmy.....

NICE!!!! I signed up for the coupon mailer from them. I think I can get a lunch buffet from them for 5.99. That'll fill me up.

Both of my teenage daughters are vegetarians and we are here now.:goodvibes In the past, we have eaten at just about every restaurant on property, but I like for them to have a choice at dinner (not just one default veggie option) and I prefer they not eat soy every day, so we have found it better to eat off property for the most part. :thumbsup2

We picked up a few things at Wal-mart and a few things from Whole Foods so they would have some stuff in the room.popcorn::

Here is where we have eaten and what they selected:

1) Morocco -Tangierine Cafe: vegetable platter and falafel sandwich
2) Cosmic Ray's - Magic Kingdom: veggie burger
3) Giordano's (restaurant.com certificate): stuffed pizza with olives and mushroom, zucchini, mozarella stick appetizer
4) House of Blues - Downtown Disney (restaurant.com certificate): penne with spinach and asparagus flatbread
5) Bubba Gump: mushroom veggie burger (I was told via an email prior to visiting that they can also make a veggie past and a veggie skillet)
6) Oishi Japanese Restaurant (restaurant.com certificate): tofu hibachi and vegetable sushi
7) Sweet Tomatoes (we had $6.99 lunch coupons).
8) O'Charley's (restaurant.com certificate): pecan tender salad w/o chicken and the ravioli with spinach
9) Pei Wei Asian Diner: vegetable spring rolls, japanese teriyaki w/ tofu, sweet & sour tofu and vegetables
10) Miller's Ale House (they have a vegetarian menu): vegetable fajitas and summer salad

They have also enjoyed snacks like soft pretzels, popcorn, cookies, caramels, Swirl Sand Pail at Typhoon Lagoon, Dole whips, Nachos, slushies, butterbeer, etc..:woohoo:

I usually pull up the menus on my droid if we plan on eating in the park so my girls can see their choices, but for the most part we decided to get snacks and go off property for a good meal.

My husband and I are not vegetarians, but have found it very easy to find a place that offers all of us some nice options. We have enjoyed all of the restaurants we have visited.

Hope this helps and I hope you have a wonderful vacation!!

Here is my vegan trip report (mostly fast food - but a few sit down) from last summer. Lots of veggie ideas. I second the lighthouse sandwich!! I also have my universal days. For lunch I ate at Moe's everyday. Can't beat the many options. Also Mytho's in IOA is supposed to have a few options and I believe Conficos is supposed to too (vegetarian one's should be pretty easy, and I belive Mythos has at least one vegan option if not two).

For AK - Restaurantasaurus has a new veggie sandwich with sweet potato fries (they also have regular fries there) that I hear is supposed to be great. You can leave the cheese off if you don't want dairy and not have them toast the bun to keep butter off if you want minimal dairy. Also Tusker house is supposed to be great for vegetarian and vegan's (buffet) for both dinner and lunch at AK.

DHS - I love the veggie sandwich at Back-lot express. I switch the bread from the Asiago to the whole grain one to keep the dairy off. It's got mushrooms and lots of other veggies.

The veggie sandwich at DTD's Earl of Sandwich (again I get without cheese and switch to the balsamic dressing to keep the dairy off the sandwich) is out of this world.

I got a tofu stir fried rice at Tomorrowland Noodle terrace (the tofu bowl had dairy in the consume), but you could probably have that too. They made me the fried rice special and it was out of this world. Normally they would just stir fry the tofu and put it over white plain rice.

The vegetarian platter is great at Epcot at Tangierine Cafe. I think one or two things have dairy if you want to swap them out. They will give you a double of something else, except the falafel. The Sunshine Season's is also a great vegetarian place to eat. Several different options like a sandwich, tofu and noodle bowl, plate with tofu, udon noodles, veggies, etc.

Thanks Mel...these are good choices too. I remember browsing your report. it was yummy ;) I'm thinking groceries will help me out and then I'll hit CS at WDW since I'll have no car with me then.

anyone had the black beans and yellow rice at thunder falls in IOA? How about the health sandwich at Beverly Hills in US? Three Broomsticks any good for veggies? I was thinking of getting a salad and some potato dish either roasted or baked.
