So, we have our airfare and hotel booked. We (me, DH, DS12, DD7) will be flying from Pittsburgh and landing at SNA at 12:30pm on Friday 10/8. We will have a rental car and staying at Hojo's in Disney view room. We depart Sunday 10/17 at 8am.

Basically, I have:
Friday afternoon (but will be 3-hour time difference)
Saturday - thinking of short visit to DL/DCA. Cannot imagine being that close to DL for the first time and not going.
Sunday - thinking of Sea World San Diego. Already bought my tickets. Kids were only $5.
Monday (Columbus Day) - thinking of San Diego Zoo. Not sure of the crowds at DL/DCA.
Tuesday - DL/DCA plus attending the TOT party.
Wednesday - DL/DCA
Thursday - DL/DCA
Friday - Beach trip. Explore the southern california beaches. Possibly doing a whale/dolphin watching cruise.
Saturday - Hollywood. Then Downtown Disney or possibly DL/DCA in the evening.

What do you think? Suggestions?

are you sure the TOT party is on Tuesday? And I think you will need to get tickets fo that soon- from what I hear they sell out quickly.

TOT is on Tuesdays and Fridays this year in Disneyland, not DCA. Tickets just went on sale last month and were available to AP holders, DVC members, and Disney Visa cardholders only at that time.

We have a Halloween thread you might find interesting... tickets go on sale for the general public to the MHP (Mickey's Halloween Party is what they are calling it now) on July 16th.

I think your plan looks pretty good... just make sure to be at the gate 30 minutes before it opens to take advantage of those all important morning hours!

I would either switch your Sea World and Zoo days, or come a bit later in the day on Monday to the Zoo. Kids are free at the Zoo in October, so tons of schools plan field trips (and I checked - most districts do not have Columbus Day off). BUT, they are gone around 1 p.m. to head back to school, so if you really want to do Mon, hit the Zoo about noon.

Sea World will be empty on Mon, and while Sun might be a bit crowded at the Zoo, I would rather deal with that than 1. the school groups and 2. a crowded Sea World.

And yes, the Halloween party will be that Tues.

Thank you for the responses.

I liked the info on the ZOO. I think I will flop my SW and SDZoo days.

How about the beach? What would you all recommend? We will have the 2 kiddos and we have never been to the Pacific before. I realize the water will be cold, but being that close, I think this is a must-do.

And what about the whale/dolphin tour? Anyone ever do this? Is it worth the time and money? And there are so many to choose from, is any of them better than the rest?

Finally, Hollywood, I think we will do all the touristy things to do. Do you think this will be an all day affair? Or could we leave around 4 and still hit Disney for a few hours?

Thanks in advance!

I think you will see enough sea life at Sea World IMHO.
