Help me plan my AK day!!

I am not too familiar with AK. We were there once when dc were very small- we arrived late, it felt very crowded, didn't know our way around. This time I am doing things differently. We will be with our 3 boys, ages 8, 6, and 2. We plan on getting there at or soon after RD, and we have fast passes for EE, Kali river rapids and Safari for the afternoon. So where should we head in the morning? I am particularly thinking of my 2yo, since he won't be able to ride EE or Kali. Lunch recommendations would be welcome too!!

I haven't been there yet, but I have just recently studied hard and gotten a lot of advice to plan my own AK day, so take this for whatever it is worth. In the morning, you may want to do some of the animal trails (Pangani, Maharajah, Discovery Island Trails), as the animals are said to be more active before it gets hot. I've also heard that Dino Land can be very hot in the afternoon, so you may want to hit that area in the morning as well. There are some shows that are said to be very good as well, especially Flights of Wonder, so you may want to look at the showtimes for that and try to fit it in. As for lunch, it seems the most popular spot is Flame Tree BBQ, but many people like Yak & Yeti Counter Service as well. Pizzafari also has its fans. Good luck!

If your boys are into characters, I'd check to see when the first ones will appear at the various locations, and head there. Most people will be trying to get rides in, so you should have short to no lines for them.

Another option would be to take the train over to conservation station. They sometimes have different things going on there with the animals as well.
