Help me plan for NYE in the parks and dining, too!

If you can afford it, why not try the NYE party they host at The Top of the World Lounge?

Do they still do a practice run of NYE fireworks at MK on the 30th? We did that years ago, and it was wonderful. Then we did NYE in DHS. Fun, not as crowded and easy to leave.
Yes

We spent this past NYE at Epcot. I was prepared for wall to wall people and being stuck in one place. It really wasn't like that at all. Some areas were congested but the bypasses were open to allow you to move around. I really enjoyed it and would love to go back without my family since they were holding me back - lol! We found a fireworks spot maybe 30 minutes before the show with no issues. Many people were desperately trying to squeeze in at the last minute and being chased off by the CMs.

I definitely recommend having a dinner reservation somewhere. We went to Via Napoli, which was great, but the music in the Italy pavilion was incredibly loud and could not be escaped even inside the restaurant. I think I'd chose a different country next time for that reason.

Be prepared to wait a very long time for a bus. We were staying at Saratoga Springs and waited over an hour for a bus, after killing a bunch of time in World Showcase. I think we got back to our room around 3:30 or so.
I LOVED! the music/DJ in Italy. It was our favorite. Yes it was loud. DH and I said we could feel/hear it down to the middle of our bones. But that's what made it FUN! Not at all our usual type of environment, after all we are 55 yo old grandparents, not Techno-ravers. LOL Still found it a blast! We ate at Via Napoli too. It was the first time we got to sit at the big community table and that was a blast too. Next time we are eating earlier though.

Sorry to piggyback onto your thread, but does anyone know if it is insane trying to get out of MK on the 30th after the midnight fireworks? Will it take us forever to get back to Boardwalk? Trying to decide whether to stay for the late fireworks, or maybe trying to get a room at BLT for the night.

We stayed for EMH and then walked to CR but I'm going to say yes it is bound to be. It's very very busy. The longer you can wait the better. And waking is always a better choice at New Year's

Thanks. I figured it would be. Looks like we'll have to skip the midnight show as my daughter likely won't be able to stay up that late and be able to tolerate a long bus ride back. Will try to get a room at BLT but likely impossible this late into the year.

So, how loud was the music inside Via Napoli? Really loud? Hard to have a conversation? Just backround noise? We currently have a NYE reservation at about 8pm, but I may cancel it.

So if traffic is that bad, I guess the Disney buses won’t be any better than driving my car

After the midnight fireworks we exited the International Gateway, walked to DHS, got straight on our bus and exiting was no problem since they buses had their own lane. Best decision of the day.

We heard nothing inside Via Napoli that I can remember. I know for certain we held conversations with the people at our table.

Okay. Great! Thanks for the reassurance. I don't even mind if we can hear the music inside the restaurant. I just want to be able to have a conversation.

Normally I'd guess yes-this past year (NYE 2017) wasn't bad at all-however the winter arrived that weekend-it was COLD later that night at MK-Hubs and I ended up buying long sleeve shirts to go under our jackets, I ended up also getting a hoody to but over my lightweight jacket. We did the dessert party as well that night so we did linger a bit-but we didn't have to wait long for a bus at all.

It was surprisingly easy for us in 2016. We were staying at POFQ and we probably exited the MK between 12:30am and 1am. Buses were plentiful for all resorts, but traffic can be unpredictable once you're on the bus, depending on where you are staying.

This was our experience as well. The 12/30 fireworks really weren’t crowded. We got a spot in the hub with less than a 30 minute wait. I’m sure the cold helped but we’ve done this on other years and had a similar experience.
