We'll be 4 total: me, DH, DS(5) and DS (4). Trying to choose between March or May of 2017, for 6 or 7 nights.

I reallllly want to do CR. But the cost is more than we want to shell out for a week. Thinking of doing 2-3 nights at CR to start and then moving somewhere more affordable.

Would save some at AKL, more at POR. Open to other suggestions. Would like it to not be a total let down after leaving CR but cost enough less to justify the move. And we have to do CR first because we can't put off MK days...they want to get there first. I like the idea of AKL for boys and overall niceness, but cost of POR is much better. Also could maybe get the pull out bunk at POR because kids sleep much better separate than in together. Thoughts?

are you set on doing a split stay? What about Pool View Bunk Bed Rooms at AKL for the entire trip? Would that cost the same? It really doesn't make sense to do CR first. Everyone will just be let down at POR afterwards. I just realized that you are probably factoring the cost of a garden view wing room at CR. The price difference probably isn't that much from a Pool View BB room.

What about POR for 4 nights and AKL for 3 nights? The Magic Kingdom transportation from Port Orleans is really good. The only resorts with buses that are closer are Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

Is the CR for the kids or for you guys? I understand the sense in doing the walk to MK for the first 2-3 days, but going from Deluxe to a Moderate is going to be a let down. Unless you do CR and then AKL. That would be relaxing too. The hub bub of the Monorail area gets overwhelming for me. AKL is super relaxing and would be a nice second half of the trip.

POR is also very relaxing. The murphy bed at POR is really really cute. I"m sure the 4 and 5 year old will want to take turns sleeping on it. A week at POR would be really nice too. So many options.

AKL is pretty amazing, so I'm not sure how let down you would feel. I usually like to move "up" but I understand you want your MK days at the beginning. We usually save it until the end of the trip. The theming, atmosphere, etc. at AKL is amazing, so while it is less expensive than CR, it's still very special. Plus there are fun activities for kids there. And of course, the animals! I'm pretty sure you can get a room at AKL with bunk beds for the kids if you think they would like that. I do think that doing a split stay to save money makes a lot of sense. When not touring the MK, the premium you pay for the monorail resorts isn't worth it IMHO.

I would not hesitate to book at POR at all.

We loved that resort and will go back there whenever we can get back to WDW. The food court is awesome and has lots of options to choose from. It has such a large seating area that we could always ind a seat anytime we ate there.

The main pool had lots of fun activities going on for younger kids and if your kids like fishing you can take them down to the fishing hole.

Have a great trip!

We're doing a split stay with POR and then CR. I think you'd want to do your deluxe second.

I think you will be happy at either POR or AKL after CR (I would prefer AKL). CR is great when you want to walk to MK, but, IMHO, it's not the greatest resort. I love it for historic reasons, but the inside feels like an airport terminal and the pool is in desperate need of an overhaul.

I love the idea of a split stay...my only words of advice are stay at your dream resort at the LAST part of your trip. No one wants to go from CR to something like Pop! If you go the other way ,you'll love both! Have SUCH A MAGICAL TIME!
