Help me pick the resort for our 15 year anniversary

DH and I are thinking of doing our first kidless trip to DW next year for our 15th wedding anniversary. The tempo of this trip would be much more laid back with less time going on rides (except for our favourites) and more time spent doing Signature dining, tours, lounging by the pool, resort activities, F&W Festival, etc. Basically all the stuff we've wanted to do but haven't had the opportunity to yet, lol!

These are the resorts I'm trying to choose between:

Deluxe
BWV studio (renting points - booking through Disney would be more money than we could justify spending)

Pros: LOCATION, close to Epcot (going during F&W Festival) and HS. Things to see and do on the boardwalk.

Cons: May be hard to reserve (popular resort for F&W Festival), non-refundable reservation, DVC rooms are a bit more worn looking, most expensive option ($600 more than a moderate, $1000 more than a value).


Moderate
POFQ

Pros: Small, easy to get around, boat to DTD.

Cons: Still have to take a bus to the parks.

Basically, I think POFQ would fit the bill for us quite nicely but I hesitate because it still doesn't have the convenient location of BWV. Then I think that without the location, maybe we should just skip staying at a moderate altogether and just cheap out and request a room with a king bed at a value resort...?

In your opinion, is it worth paying the extra $$$ and making a non-refundable reservation to stay at BWV during F&W Festival or should we save the money and stay at POFQ or even a value?

I would say BWV but it is almost impossible to get a res during F&W but you can always try and if you can't then POFQ is a good choice. I love POFQ.

Boardwalk really appeels to me for an adult only trip. We enjoyed our stay at POFQ. But have you thought about WL? We love WL. It is priced between a deluxe & Mod.

If money were no object I'd pick the BWV (heck I'd choose the Beach Ciub). Of your choices I'd see if I could get the BWV and if not opt for POFQ. No value for adult only if finances allow.

For an adult only anniversary, the Epcot resorts are the best!! BWI or BWV are both nice as are YC and BC (MY FAV).

You can sometimes get a good rate at the Swan or Dolphin. These may not be Disney hotels, but come with most of the same perks and have great rooms, especially if you book an EPCOT fireworks view balcony. Depending on time of year and available discounts, the price can be great at these.

Have you considered CBR? We absolutely love it! While it is not walking distance to Epcot, it is an Epcot resort and close by.

For an anniversary, adults-only trip I think BWV would be the way to go. POFQ would be a nice backup. I also think that Babsy's idea of Swan or Dolphin is a great alternative. Right on the same area & with similar perks, but you have could probably get a much better rate.

Although BWV are awesome, if you are looking to go this fall, you won't find any availability. POFQ is lovely and romantic. It is also centrally located, so your commute to Epcot is not bad at all. As pp stated, you may want to look at the Swan or Dolphin. I personally would not do a value for an anniversary trip, but that's just me. We also did an adults only trip for our 15th anniversary during F&W and had a blast. We did a wine seminar and enjoyed snacking and drinking our way around the world. It was fantastic!

I'm gonna second the Swan/Dolphin suggestion. Is having the dining plan an absolute necessity? If not then S&D seems like the logical choice to me.

You will be on the Boardwalk, near Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club. You are walking distance to Epcot and DHS. DH I stayed at the Dolphin during F&W and it was sooo convenient. The best part is that you are essentially in a "Deluxe" area but your cost will be similar to POFQ. It might be worth it to sign up for AAA because they offer that discount. If you or DH work for the fed'l gov't they have a discount for that as well. DH and I stayed there this past October over Columbus Day weekend and with a AAA discount our room was $188/night. I made the reservation at the beginning of July.

I love the Boardwalk and did an adult only stay with DH at BWI in March. It was perfect. That said, I cannot do a nonrefundable deposit anywhere due to work and family concerns, so wouldn't be willing to rent points at BWV (though have stayed at a BWV studio twice and loved it both times) even if you could get a ressie.

POFQ is a really nice resort. My favorite of the moderates. It doesn't have the benefit of being able to walk to Epcot and DHS, but it is nice.

Personally, I wouldn't do a value with my DH. Too much energy for him; we need something more laid back and quiet for him to enjoy WDW. (He only comes on about every 10th trip.)

We are doing POFQ for our 30th Anniversary in November.

As much as I think the deluxes are awesome, cost wise and resort size it looks like POFQ is the way to go.

It just looks romantic!

I agree with previous posters -- check out the Swan or Dolphin. Location is terrific for enjoying the F&W Festival. Usually it has better pricing than the BWI, BC or YC. Swan/Dolphin even have their own mini Food & Wine Festival in mid-October.

Swan/Dolphin beds are the best on property, except for main building club level at GF. Service, in our experience is better than at any Disney hotel. The best dining options on Disney property are located at the Swan/Dolphin. The pool is great -- again, best one on property except for SAB at BC/YC.

Book a high floor with balcony and I think you'll be very happy.

I actually think a room at POFQ would be nicer than a BWV studio, but then I'm not a studio fan. I love the port Orleans resorts.

The plan right now is to see if we are offered a bounce back when we are there this fall. If yes, we'll probably book POFQ. If not, we will try for a BWV studio and if there is no availability there, we'll book Swan/Dolphin.
