DH and I are thinking about taking our first trip to Disney for Halloween. We have never been at that time of year, but we both are interested in the Halloween parties and the Wine/Dine Half Marathon. We like to stay at a new resort each time. We have previously stayed at POP, POR, POFQ, and AKL. We would stay at least one week, maybe longer depending on the cost of the hotel. I just can't decide what the best option for us is. We would be there over Halloween and through that weekend 11/3 & 4. We don't have set dates because we haven't booked a flight or anything, but that is the weekend of the Half Marathon.

I would say we would like to spend no more than $300/night. DH said no Values this time since we just stayed at POP, but I think it depends on cost. We could do a split stay between a Value and a Deluxe to save money.

Right now, I'm seeing this for 10/30-11/6:
Music-$119
Sports-$137
Movies-$138
Coronado-$217
Caribbean-$224

We would love to try a new deluxe, but they are all over $400/night right now and there's no way I can justify that price. Does anyone have any ideas?

You could look into renting DVC points. Much cheaper than going through Disney for deluxe.

I love going in October - the weather is warm during the day ( 80s ) and in the mid 70's at night. My favorite event is Food and Wine ( just try and avoid going over the weekend if you can for a better experience. Depending on the week you go, you can get a mixed bag of crowd level. When we went several years ago, it was pretty low but I know with the popularity of F & W that has changed some. I think there are more busy days than not these days.

I agree with you, if you don't mind the Value Resorts, 115.00 is hard to pass up. If you do decide to go with CBR or CSR I would just take a look at some current videos and reviews to see how the construction is going.

If we do go, we will be trying the half marathon so we would be there on the weekend but we would get the after party that comes with that. The two course challenge is a hefty expense so we will most likely go with sports. I was also thinking about doing the Halloween party but maybe on two different days? Sounds hard to get it all done at one party.
