I am trying to decide when our next trip should be. Every time I think I have decided something pops up and I think I should pick the other set of dates.

We typically travel for RunDisney weekends. (Nov. for Food and Wine half is my 1 pick) I am not really counting on 2021 for RunDisney so we are going to take advantage of booking a month we don’t typically travel.

I am deciding between 3 nights starting Oct. 19 or 3 nights starting Nov. 30.
We would only be doing a day at MK and DHS. If the holiday parties are back we might do that instead. We will love to Universal for the rest of the week.

We have been to both the Halloween and Xmas party. The Halloween party was one night before a cruise and the Xmas party was the first one in Nov. so while we have seen holiday decorations we haven’t seen the full Dec. holiday stuff.

I prefer Xmas. I love the decor and snacks. We would be in Disney over my sons 7th bday.
Reasons I think October might be better is the weather. Kids love the pools. Afraid we risk cold weather traveling in Dec. Also wondering if I should save Dec. for when we take a longer time in Disney so we can see all the parks.
We have not seen Universal for Xmas. We have been to Universal for a few days in Oct.

If we pick Oct. it will be just a few days after DD’s bday. I think the kids might prefer all the Halloween stuff vs Xmas, especially the Halloween party.
The weather might be better, as long as no hurricanes.
I do look forward to seeing all the fall decor and treats, but xmas is #1 in my book.

What do the experts think? We will most likely switch back to RunDisney weekends once available so it’s not like we can just do the other option next time. It would be more like 4-5 years before we do the second option.
Kids will be 5,7,17.

Thank you!

You have the extra added event beginning Oct 1, 2021, and running for a long time thereafter: the 50th anniversary of WDW. Assuming any return to something normal at WDW, that could include a number of changes including to parades, attractions, Halloween events, and even Christmas events.

My personal preference would be that Oct time when weather is usually ideal. It is often fine, but cooler, late Nov and early Dec, but you can have variances (e.g., one year not long ago first week of Dec was in the freezing range).

In any event, if choosing that Oct time, you better make the reservation now, particularly if you want any near park studios, as there is a risk that rooms could disappear for the period even earlier than usual for that time of year. For example, for Oct 1, practically everything filled at 11-months out, including things that usually never fill even by 7-months out, e.g., all of BLT -- every room -- filled at 11-months out for Oct 1.

Moreover, if you are intending to do Nov 30 and days after, you have a like issue in that, even without the 50th, that week is usually the highest DVC demand week of the year.
