It will be my mom and I...she's not a big eater (especially meat) and as much as I would love to try O'hana's...I'm thinking she might like the menu selections better at Kona Cafe. I know that there is more of an "atmosphere factor at O'hana's...but the menu at Kona Cafe looks appealing. We plan on walking around the resort alittle before we head to MK for the evening.

Can you guys help me out and vote--and if you vote for Kona Cafe tell me what your favorite thing is on the dinner menu.

The breakfast at Kona Cafe looks great too--we might have to try that one out too! Gotta try that Tonga Toast!

Thanks in advance!

I've only eaten at Kona so I really can't judge Ohana except that it seems like a awful lot of food so it might be a little too much if you guys aren't big eaters. We ate at Kona twice and the food was delicious! Please try the crab cakes and the sticky wings for starters. The filet mignon was very good as was the terriyaki steak. People also seem to like the macadamia style fish here, although I didn't try it. The passion fruit mousse and the cheesecake was also good. Their Pina Coladas are to die for! You can get them non-alcoholic too. Enjoy the Poly atmosphere wherever you decide to eat! :goodvibes

Thanks Electics for responding ;)

Anyone else have any ideas of what to order at Kona's?

Thanks in advance!

Kona is definitely more intimate and nice for a party of two. Ohanas, althought great, is definitely NOISY! If you are looking for that then maybe go to Ohana's but the food at Kona is better, JMHO. If you end up with Kona, go for the beef teryaki! The best!

My Family I make it a point to eat at Kona every trip. We go at least 4 times a year (s.floridians). we Have eatin at just about every WDW restaurant save V&A and France at EPCOT. We love the sticky wing app. and all of the menu items have not disappointed. if you are a coffee fan nthe 100% Kona press pot is a must and I really like the coco puffs with it. :cloud9:

We go to WDW twice a year and during most trips we put the kids in daycare at the Neverland Club and DH & I got to the Kona Cafe ALONE for dinner. It is one of our favorite restaurants. We are not big fans of 'Ohana's as we don't get our $$$$ worth out of all-you-can-eat.

We usually get the pot stickers and the crab cakes for appetizers - yum! I like the coconut chicken and get it every time. DH tries different things and has never been disappointed in a meal. Every once in a while we try a dessert - I like the koko puffs.

I think you will really like the Kona Cafe with your Mom. The Polynesian is a beautiful resort and it is fun to walk around.

Jill

P.S. We have also eaten there for breakfast and altho so many people rave about the tonga toast, it is way too sweet for me! :)

I want to thank you all for your replies too. We have an ADR for our first night meal at Kona. I will be traveling with another Majorette Mom and we will arrive the day prior to the HS Band that we are there to see. I wanted to be able to show her the monorail resorts and thought that this would be the best way to do that. It was a toss up between Kona and Concourse Steak House. I was told that CSH was a but noisy.

IMHO, Kona is one of the best restaurants in WDW. We've never had a bad meal there. It's not super fancy, but everything we've had has been superb. I love to visit the Polynesian too. The public areas are so wonderful.

We ate at Kona Cafe last week, We were not really hungry so we didn't use our table service for the Dining plan. Instead I opted for 2 appetizers, the chicken wings and the ceaser salad, my wife had the crab cakes and pot stickers. They were all fantastic but the wings were awesome, and enough to split for 2 !

The Mai Tai is mighty tasty there too! :earboy2:

Yum...Mai Tai's!! I didn't even think about the yummy drinks! :teeth:

We also eat at kona every trip. I think the crab cakes were very yummy. We also had the beef tips or medallians? It was very good, they had these potato's that were to die for. I also had a pie it was a macadamia or something like that, but was very good.

I love Kona for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is always great and I love the atmosphere of the Poly. I hate to let others know how great it really is because I won't be able to get in. :rotfl: :rotfl:
