We will be staying at the Poly for DH birthday in late June. Please suggest somewhere for a nice dinner that wouldn't take up the whole evening. We would like to be back at the Poly for EWP and fireworks from the beach. Also have 2 kids 10 and 4 so V&A's is out. Just don't want him to have to eat hot dogs on his birthday! Thanks!

I suggest California Grill at the Contemporary. We did it last Thursday evening, and were also staying at the Poly. They have a kids menu and it only gets really expensive if you drink alot. The flatbread appetizers are shareable and kid friendly. The view is spectacular--we watched the sunset and the fireworks from there. We hopped on the monorail and were back in time for the EWP. We just loved it--I hope you have a great time wherever you go.

Two of my very favorite places to eat in all of WDW are right at the Polynesian - Kona Cafe and Ohana! Both are wonderful for dinner. Ohana has a really fun "family" atmosphere that would make for a really memorable birthday. Kona has incredible food and out-this-world desserts!

Artis Point is another option. It's at the Wilderness Lodge. You could just hop the monorail to the MK and then take the boat to the WL. It's a little quieter and more grown-up, but I've seen lots of kids there, too. The food is amazing. Plus, you could wander around and check out the WL grounds and lobby. If you haven't been there, it will take your breath away. I had my birthday dinner at Artist Point last year and it was wonderful! Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge is tons of fun for birthdays, too. The BBQ is great and the atmosphere is fun and rowdy. They do lots of silly stuff to embarass the birthday person. It's great! The kids would love it.

Any of the places in the Contemporary or Grand Floridian would be good choices, too. There are fun character meals as well as more adult meals in both resorts.

I just had to make this same decision. We will be in WDW over my DH's birthday on Jan 27th. We have a 2 & 5 year old. We will be staying at the WL - I wanted something close, but not on the WL property (since we will be staying there, we will eat there often enough) - I also wanted something a tiny bit special - I have made a PS for Narcoosees at the Grand Floridian. From what I hear, it is fabulous food, more upscale, but not overly quiet (so the kids wil fit right in - it is WDW after all & kids fit in anywhere but V&A anyway). The interior is wood floors & such - there are MANY window seats & it is right on the water w/ a view of the castle. I made the 1st PS of the evening - which is 5:30 ...the kids won't be fusy & the more "adult" couples won't be arriving yet .......I can't wait!!

Thanks, I hadn't even thought of Narcoosees, what kind of food is it? Where can I find a menu? My birthday is Jan 27 too. Wish I was going to WDW to celebrate. Just have to wait for summer!

I highly recommend CG and Narcoossee's. If you know the MK firework's times, maybe you can coordinate watching the fireworks from the California Grill! It is great!:D

O'Hana is also nice, but I like my first 2 choices for a birthday celebration. You can find menus at:

I love the filet and the pork tenderloin at CG and the Sea bass at Narcoossee's was the best I have ever had!:teeth: The squash/blue crab soup is heavenly.

We are celebrating DH's b-day at 'Ohana's, but shhhhh, don't tell..... he doesn't know! I though he would really enjoy it plus they extended mk's hours that night and we will be there during Fantasy in the Sky!

I agree with spoisal: Narcoosee's would bet the perfect spot--a nice blend of good food, good view, and kid friendly to boot.
