Ok So I am going for my first solo trip in August...and I want to take myself to one sit down dinner. I have chosen the night to do it, and I will be in Epcot that night...so...I have narrowed it down to 2 restaurants

Coral Reef or Rose & Crown

Here is what I will probably get from each place...

Coral Reef:
Lobster Soup

Pumpkin Risotto - infused with Manchego Cheese and green beans topped with fried parsnips and cranberry sauce
or
Seared Sterling Salmon with ratatouille

The Chocolate Wave* - with brandied cherries

Rose & Crown:
Rose and Crown Cheese Plate - Irish Cheddar, Mushroom Brie, and Stilton Pastry with individual accompaniments
or
Roasted Mushrooms - cooked with Cream and Garlic, served on a puff pastry

Bangers and Mash - traditional English sausages, with braised cabbage and bacon, mashed potatoes and shallot gravy
or
Herb-roasted Lamb - with Irish cheddar potato gratin and Guinness Barbecue Sauce

Baileys Irish Coffee Trifle
or
Sticky Toffee Pudding

Has anyone had any of these things? Any solo travellers that prefer one over the other? Any help would be great!

THANKS!

Been to Coral Reef and can highly recommend it. Mom had the soup :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 and I had the BBQ salmon sandwich, very nicely done and I'm not a fan of BBQ sauce. The Chocolate Wave is legendary so that's a safe bet too.

We loved the bread and butter there too. Just one of our favorite meals.

Never been to Rose and Crown. The items you picked out does sound good.

We have been to Coral Reef several times. We really like the atmosphere and dessert. :thumbsup2

We ate at Rose and Crown on our last trip. The food was yummy, especially the cheese plate. However, it was a beautiful night, and we really wanted to eat out on the patio. We offered to wait until a table was available, but they said they could not do that, and we could either take or leave the inside table. We took the table since we were on the dining plan. The AC blasted onto our necks, and it would have been the worst dining experience of the trip, if it weren't for the 2nd glass of wine I drank. :woohoo:

I've eaten at both and would choose Coral Reef... plus I actually ordered the lobster bisque and the chocolate wave and they were both GREAT!!

I've never eaten at Coral Reef (will this next time) but my dinner at Rose and Crown was actually a little bit of a letdown last time. I chalk it up to a rotten server. Good luck! With three young boys, I'd ADORE a meal to myself once in a while. How wonderful!

I like both, actually R&C was probably our bet meal, chef came to our table, wait staff gave the kids lights for their drinks, had chicken something and it looked like I licked the plate clean...
as for coral reef, not bad, have eaten there a couple times, but I like New England prepared seafood. it's just different.. I am sure you will enjoy either

Thanks so much everyone for weighing on for me... I think I ma leaning towards R&C but I haven't made the ressie yet! I will prob do it tonight!

Again THANKS!!!!:thumbsup2

Never been to Rose&Crown but I LOVE Coral Reef! Just to let you know, the Pumpkin Risotto is no longer there, unless they brought it back between Easter and now. Lobster soup was awesome, so was the dessert!

Really??? Thanks that does help my choice some!

funny, you picked both our favorite EPCOT restarant (CR) & our least favorite (R&C).

we always eat at CR & have never been disappointed, but one was enough at R&C (it's the one & only restaurant in all of WDW i would actually advise people to forego :scared: )

We have eaten at both...MUCH prefer Coral Reef.
R&C: It felt crowded & hot...service was very good...food was average..Not bad. Just not great.
Coral Reef: Loved the atmosphere, service was excellent, and we all (DH, myself and 2 kids) very much enjoyed our meals.
It was one of the few places DD6 requested for our next trip. :)

I've been to both and if I was a solo dinner I'd feel more at home dining at RC, Coral is just so big and open and I wouldn't want the exposure. But that's just me. Both have good food.

Coral Reef - no question at all on this one :thumbsup2

We missed this jewel on several trips until we finally "bit the bullet" and ate there to make my DS happy (loves the aquarium) and it is now my fave restaurant in all of WDW

The New York strip is the best steak I've had anywhere. I'm not a "sauce" fan but the demi-glaze is lick your plate good. And the chocolate wave... OMG it is soooooooooo good :woohoo:

Also, I travel for business and twice this has sent me to Orlando and I can honestly say that the Coral Reef would be one of my first choices even if it wasn't my fave. The aquarium view is great from any table and gives the solo traveler something to "do" while passing the time.

Honestly, I can't recommend the Coral Reef high enough :goodvibes

I made a ressie for R&C. I was hoping for a time closer to Illuminations but it didn't work out that way. But I picked it because its a place I haven't tried before. Now wish em luck of getting seated on the patio!

Thanks everyone!!!!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!!!

Were you looking for the vegetarian option at CR? The new one is tofu kebabs and it was awesome! Good luck with R&C!
