I need help here! We're checking into BCV on a Sunday; but won't be using our park passes till Monday. For Sunday we thought we'd get to BB as early as possible, then go back to the room and change for the evening. My friend and I want to take her sister (who hasn't been to WDW since before Epcot!) for a ride on the monorail loop. I thought it would be neat to eat along the way. I'm open to all suggestions, but keep in mind we will also have my 4 yo ds with us! He's usually well behaved while eating out; but I don't think he could take a really long meal!;) Also, if you have suggestions for a restaurant that's not on the monorail line, post it anyway! Our plans aren't written in stone. I could really use a lot of help with the resort restaurants since we've never eaten at ANY of them (except those at BWI).

Thanks for your help!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Ohana's is on at the Poly and Chef Mickey character meal is at the Contemporary. I've done Ohana before and the kids loved it and it wasn't too crowded. We haven't tried Chef Mickey yet, we will be doing it this December but I hear it gets more crowded.

Definitely try Chef Mickey's! Good food, great location, and great characters. It will really get you "in the mood" for your vacation, and your son will love it.

Another vote for Chef Mickeys. You will all have a blast!!!

If you are looking for something a little more formal, Narcoosees at the GF. Casual enough for a four year old, but very nice. Not quite as frentic as Ohana or Chef Mickey's. Beautiful view of the castle. Out on the water. A nice stroll through the GF grounds.

Chef Mickey's It's fun, casual and has characters.

I would suggest either O'Hana's at the Polynesian or the 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. Both of these are excellent places to dine. The 1900 is a character buffet meal and O'Hana's is a family-style, all-you-can-eat meal. At O'Hana's, they have games for the kids to play. I think you'll be very pleased at these restaurants. :jester: :smooth:

I may be in the minority here, but I would strongly not going to Chef Mickey's for dinner. Breakfast yes, but dinner a BIG no. Went last year and the food was awful. Complete waste of money in my opinion.
 :(

How about Kona? Better food than Chef Mickey's I think and more variety than 'Ohana. It has rather fast service, great food and is casual. We love Narcoossee's too but it is more expensive and a meal might try the patience of a 4 year old...depending on the child. Not as casual either. Another nice thing about Kona is that it is right by the monorail entrance at the Polynesian.

I love the concourse steak house in the Contemporary. My entire family (17 people including lots of kids) had dinner there New Years Eve 1999 and the food was great and so was the service. It is now my favorite restaurant in the World....:bounce:

Another vote for Ohana's at the Poly and Chef Mickey character meal at the Contemporary.

Another vote for Kona. Good food, nice open dining area, good coffee, and you get to see all their amazing desserts on your way to your table.

Jumping on the band wgon for Kona! Love it! And they have a great dessert for kids there that your son will love. It is a huge upside down icecream cone, and they decorate the plate. It's beautiful.

Try the Pan Asian Noodles - and Pot Stickers! - and . . . .

I think that, regardless of food, the best way to get in to the WDW spririt on that first non-park day is to do a character meal. We did Chef Mickey's last year, and loved it. This year we are doing Cinderella's Gala Feast. I think these options far surpass a non-character meal for a 4 year old. :)

If it was lunch I would say Grand Floridian Cafe, my favorite spot for a quiet luch away from the Magic Kingdom, but for dinner I would probably go with the Concourse Steakhouse, great food and you can watch the monorail go by.

I'd say either Chef Mickey's or the Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary. Chef Mickey's is a great choice because of all the characters present and the atmosphere/excitement of Disney is great for kids. However, the Concourse Steakhouse is also really nice because it's very open and the food and service are both great. The monorail goes above/by the Concourse Steakhouse as well, which little kids love...

I would also vote for Ohana or Chef Mickey's.

Chef Mickey's is a good character dinner and you get cool view of the monorail zipping through the Contemporary.

Ohana has a good tropical theme, but not a many choices for young ones.

Thanks for all of your responses! I think we have narrowed our choices to Concourse Steakhouse or Kona. I forgot to mention that we actually have eaten at Chef Mickey's before, and we'll be doing a character breakfast on our first full day there (Cape May Cafe). Thanks for all of the great suggestions! -Dana:D

Ohana at the Polynesian or Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary would be my suggestions.
