Help me pick a new car!

I would go with a Honda or a Toyota. It has been my experience that American-made are not as reliable.

I love Honda and know many people that own them. My office manager has a CRV and swears by it!!!

BTW, my '09 Honda Accord was made in Ohio. I do know that Honda's new Insight, their hybid, is built in Japan. In August, 2008, Honda overtook Chrysler as the fourth largest automobile manufacturer in the United States.

We are Honda people and have had many in our family. We got the new Honda Insight (hybrid) in August and love it. Gas mileage is over 45 mpg and the car was inexpensive.

I almost bought the Insight!!! It was a toss up between that and the Accord. We test drove both of them several times at 3 different dealers. DH and I were almost sold on the Insight, but DH is tall and can't quite straighten his legs out in the passenger seat. Why he didn't figure this out on an earlier test drive is beyond me. Yep, that was why we didn't buy it:rotfl:!!!

If you want a small SUV I would highly recommend the Ford Escape. We love ours. Tried all of them and it just suited us best. YMMV.

Toyota has had a major drop in quality in recent years and is no longer at the top of the JD Powers results. Hyundai is (for non-luxury vehicles). Ford is up there, too. And Honda. But Toyota has had a lot of problems lately. Things don't stay the same forever.

just an FYI...the honda pilot, odyssey and ridgeline are made near my home, in lincoln, alabama. accords (i think, might be the civic) will soon be made here as well. :)

OP, you really can't go wrong with a honda. i know a guy with a 1977 honda civic that it still running like a top, and another grown man who cried when he wrecked his 1980 civic and the insurance totalled it. he had it fixed and drove it anyway, because he couldn't bear to part with it.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. I think I've got a bit more research to do now with all of these great suggestions!
