Thank you all for the great feedback- wonderful ideas to consider!
based on this and some other research, i think we are definitely doing Mama Melrose. I am considering Tusker House, WCC and Paradiso 37 too. I think i want to do Cape May breakfast for next trip!
In Animal Kingdom Tusker House Breakfast is a must do for us. The food is great and we love the characters there

We are trying Garden Grill in Epcot this time for the characters and convenience of a family style meal. As far as DHS goes we did MM Fantasmic pkg...We are also trying Ohana Breakfast as well. I keep hearing good things about The Wave. Cape May could be another suggestion. GL with whatever you choose!!
i was thinking of Tusker House....so good mention there, who are the characters? I've done it before, but it was shortly after AK opened, so it's been a while.
Very cozy atmosphere, great pasta and steak. Friendly service.
sound like this one is getting alot of votes, might just have to do it! thanks,
I'd suggest Mama Melrose and Paridiso 37. Last trip we did both and they were both delicious! We did the Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose which worked out great if you plan on doing Fantasmic (no waiting in line to get in). Paridiso had just opened but their food was fabulous!
what did you have at Paradiso 37? i was thinking it might be an interesting choice for DTD.
We love Mama Melrose's but HATED Brown Derby. The service was non-existent, my BF's steak was practically still mooing after he asked for it well done...he sent it back and it came back medium rare... my chicken was fatty and bland...it was just way overpriced for food that was not good at all. Of course, other's will disagree but that was our experience.
At Epcot I would say try Rose & Crown in the UK pavilion. It became our new favorite on this past trip.
As for MK, the only sit-down option left is Tony's Town Square. we went there for dinner one year and it was awful. I've heard lunch is better than dinner but I won't be going back for a long while. I'd rather get on the monorail and head to a resort for dinner.
At AK, we really like Yak & Yeti although a lot of people complain about it. You could always leave AK and go to AKL for dinner. We've only been to Boma but I've heard that all of the restaurants there are fabulous.
Paradiso 37 was excellent. We just ate there this past October for the first time and it was wonderful.
thank you!! i am really leaning towards Mama Melrose the more I read about both. I was actually thinking Jiko for AKL, we've been dying to try it, just not sure we want to drag a toddler along to it. maybe a good night to let him try out the kids club since he will be 4?
HS: Mama Melrose was great and the service was superb... So I agree with everyone on that
EPCOT: Chefs de France was a great hit with our children and the food was the best we had at the parks. A treat for us was having Remi come to our table and interact with the kiddos. The service was great and we got to know our server pretty well and he loved to answer all our kids questions about living in France.
Other: I enjoyed my meal at Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge and really enjoyed eating at Ragland Rd. If you like Dinner shows, you may also want to look into the Hoop Dee Doo at Fort Wilderness.
Thank you! another mama Melrose! I love Chefs as well, in fact, we were booked there for December, but we had to cancel that ADR with a change in plans last minute. since i've been before, trying to branch out, but i do love it there! have not done artist point....or ragland, so good options too. I've done Hoop Dee Doo every single trip except this past one. it is sort of a family tradition with my parents to do it everytime! lol My sister was picked, my BIL, niece and dad over the years to particpate in the show too!
We loved Whispering Canyon, and it's a nice boat ride away from MK! We did lunch and enjoyed it, a lot! Great interactions for the kiddos too!
Love WCC- i've done it twice (both dinners) and wouldn't mind doing it again. that skillet was yummy and my son might enjoy the antics!
HS - Mama Melrose. Food is yummy and cheaper than HBD.
MK - Take the ferry over to WL and eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe
AK - Yak & Yeti is good, we ate there last trip. I've heard great things about Tusker House's breakfast, if you want to add another buffet to your list.
Yak and Yeti is very tempting, we tried the QS version in December and liked it.
WCC was great and a lot of fun
yak & yeti is worth trying
tusker house has a great breakfast
ranglan road
thanks, definitely considering all of those probably except raglan, probably save it for a future trip.
last trip our favorite dinner was at Tuskers. It was great. Crystal place was fun. Was not happy with O'hana's for dinner but love it for breakfast.
i hear that a lot on Ohana actually, pretty funny. i think we will do it for both breakfast and dinner this time. lol-if AP rates come out and we can get one for the Poly, we might come in a night earlier and stay there a night or two, and so eating there would be convenient anyhow!
I'd like to give a shout out for Biergarten. We *loved* it. I was *really* dreading that restaurant our last trip b/c I really thought I'd hate it. It ended up being one of my favorites...and my kids' too.
i've thought about it, but being such a picky eater, i worry i won't like much there, but the atmosphere looks so fun. i think we will eventually try it and maybe wait until our son is a little older.
Tutto ( yummy)
Cape May Clambake
Tusker House Breakfast is great
Biergarten lots of good food and fun
Also Olivias at OKW, had a great meal here a couple of yrs. ago
i've had Cape May breakfast, but not dinner---DH might like it, but i don't do seafood, do they offer a lot of non seafood options?
Whispering Canyon at the WL? We are also Trying Raglan's for the first time this next trip.
so more votes for WCC! something i hadn't considered really since i've done it before, but DH hasn't (or DS), so i might just have to think about it, i did enjoy the food and the fun!
I would also like to mention Raglan Road, especially after 8PM, with the live band (er...except Sunday).
thanks! great to know- we'd have to find a sitter probably with the live band, not sure DS would manage!

or he might just love it.
We loved Mama Melrose! Very homey and quiet with yummy food. Tusker House breakfast was excellent! Very good food with some different choices as well as your standard fare and you have the characters. Don't write off Cape May just because you don't enjoy seafood. They had choices that were very yummy for the non-seafood people in our party and the desserts were some of the best on our whole trip! The breakfast here is very good too and has the characters in beach attire. It's a very relaxed and quiet setting for a character meal.
thanks for the note on Cape May, good to know! I got to do the CM breakfast before the DIS unplugged cruise 1.0 and it was a lot of fun, first time doing it, but DH and DS haven't tried it yet, that might be a good one to think about too!
I've heard great things about The Plaza at MK. It's simple sandwiches, but they say everything is very fresh and it's table service. We are going to try it in May. It was between that or Tony's and I keep seeing mixed reviews there.
you know, i have too- as simple as the menu might sound, i always read good things about it. I think that would be my next choice for a sit down at MK.
