Hi all
long time since I have been on here but had lots gone on.
im getting married next year and trying to persuade the oh to go to dlp for our honeymoon. he has been to florida a few times and thinks it won't be as good.he can't fly due to medical reasons so eurstar would be ok.
Please please help me with ideas as I want to share my happy place with him. and I need a ticker lol

thanks

Could you persuade him by doing part of your stay in Paris itself and then a few days at DLP?

I REALLY wanted to go to DLP for my honeymoon but DH was having none of it :(

Hope you get your way! :thumbsup2

I appreciate your reasons for wanting to visit DLP with OH being unable to fly, but in terms of it not being as good and being disappointed he is right, DLP is nothing compared with WDW, it doesn't have the atmosphere or attractions IMO

Awh Kaz DELIGHTED to see you back. Missed you on the boards and was thrilled to read about you getting engaged on fbk. Hope the planning is coming along nicely. I would suggest something like what myself and hubby did for our honeymoon. We went to Amsterdam, Paris, DLP and Naples. Amsterdam is on a Thalys line (high speed like TGV) and was only 2 hrs and ¬35 each! And I think i read lately about a high speed train that goes from Paris to Italy lately. You could spend a couple of days in each place and if you did say 3N2D your soon to be hubby might not be as reluctant. My husband just doesn't get my Disney addiction at all but he was fine with it as we looked at Amsterdam being somewhere he wanted to go, DLP was my pick and Naples was to relax (horrid place though! Very rough we discovered).

OP I don't think its fair to bash DLP when Karen wants to go and as her H2B cannot fly so WDW isn't a possibility anyway.

Thanks everyone for your help

Thanks Kizzy its nice to be back on here. I have been so busy and crazy its lovely to finally be in a happy place in my life.

just wondered for those that have been to wdw and dlp in your opinion what does dlp have to offer that wdw doesn't that I can explain to the oh as ive only been to dlp and he has only done wdw

some great honeymoon ideas tho from you guys . Thanks

Lol Karen!! My thought when I read the title was - go without him!!! :rotfl: Then I realised it was your honeymoon.... perhaps not?!

I booked Paris for our honeymoon also on Eurostar and then HAD to have a visit to DLP while we were there - rude not to! It was a honeymoon based in Paris though, maybe that's the way to go?

Surely he wants to keep you happy...!! ;)

Good luck with the persuasion! :goodvibes

I like DLP and WDW :thumbsup2 Obviously WDW has more Parks it's a bit slicker in terms of service, the resorts are lovely and you get the Florida sunshine! I like the closeness of everything at DLP, walking round the lake to get to the park, EMH's and the European atmosphere. BTM and Pirates are much better than their American counterparts and there are some different attractions such as Crush, TSP and Indie. I like being able to have a short break at DLP and wrap up warm in the winter. WDW is a long summer holiday and not as affordable. Having said that my DH loves WDW, but didn't like DLP (I think it was the cold and having to get up early!) so I always go without him.
I think the idea of combining Paris and DLP on honeymoon would be a good one - go for it!:surfweb:

Congratulations  and nice to see you back. :goodvibes

I too think it's a great idea to combine DLP with a stay in Paris, hopefully that'll win him over.

Congratulations! We had our honeymoon at DLP back in 2004 and stayed in the Dusneyland hotel, it was fantastic, we did then have a further week in Newquay to relax and recover. So I agree splitting the honeymoon in two is a great idea.

I have to agree that if he's a WDW fan then I don't think DLP is going to be impressive enough for a honeymoon.

A break in Paris with a day or two at DLRP would maybe be the better idea.

We're very close to cancelling next summers DLRP trip due to the cutbacks they're making. Saving our money for WDW.

We are going to spend a few days staying onsite (rare treat, offsite and AP's for us at the moment) and have a proper honeymoon on a cruise ship a few months later.
Maybe you could stay in Paris, place a padlock on the bridge and a couple of nights in DLP??

I've been to both Wdw and DL in the US and in my opinion DLP is the most beautiful and my favourite magic kingdom.

I believe DLP has the most impressive details, the best themed lands, the most impressive layout and a touch of true European essence that WDW has to pretend it has.

I really like WDW but the idea that DLP is the poor cousin drives me mad. While at the US parks I felt they just weren't as nice as DLP and felt much more commercial. WDW has more money to invest in the parks but the atmosphere in DLP feels more like you're stepping into a Disney themed world or fairy tale.

I don't really like Disneyland as a magic kingdom at all. Rides are great but park layout and atmosphere feels lacking.

Just shows how opinions can differ and how it's all down the everyone's personal preferences!

To me there is no comparison and WDW is far better for detail, atmosphere, friendliness, cleanliness and has better attractions!!

The only thing from DLP I'd like them to put at WDW is Crushes coaster, I do love that ride :-)

Like I said its obviously all down to personal opinions and we are all allowed our own, I guess there is no right or wrong answer! :-)

I think it funny how people get so protective over DLP that have never been to WDW. Yet lose it when people who have never been to DLP say they don't like it.

WDW is in a different league to DLP Magic Kingdom alone is far better. There are characters every where the rides are in a much better state. Yes it may be more commercialised but that's how they make money and are doing so well compared to the DLP park.

I love them both and would never pass a chance to go to either. Yes DLP park is beautiful and has so much detail but WDW has the beauty, the magic is every where and still plenty of detail. DD was called princess and was handed stickers every where this may be such a small thing to some but to her was amazing she loved it. Small friendly encounters can have such a difference to your day. 4 months later she still talks about it every day when she saw mickey and Donald, saw animals

I think dlp looks better than MK. but would agree with the rest. We have a good time at Dlrp however we have so many more special moments at wdw. it's just little things too.
