if in the budget, I would get the golf cart. not just to get to pool but it will help getting to bus or boat pickup areas. you will need to take bus to get to either one. I had to use an ECV while there and daughter and family always beat me back as I waited for the bus. esp important in the evening as getting tired kids to bed as fast as possible.

You can request a loop near the pool (several are within easy walking distance) if that's his concern.

You are coming a long way. Do you plan to get a cabin (those are NOT close to the pool) or rent a popup or trailer? (those can be set close by the pool).

He will love camping at the fort over staying at a resort. I took my son who is 9 to the fort this past March, first trip to Disney for both of us. We enjoy camping at home and thought it would be fun to camp at Disney. After a lot of research I contacted Matt at greenbergrvflorida.com he returned my call real quick on a weekend. He rents everything from popups to 30 foot plus trailers. We decided to rent a 30 footer because my son loved that he would have his own bunk room in the rear with three beds and a TV. This worked out wonderful after a day at the park he was tired and could close the door and fall asleep and I could stay up and watch TV or sit outside and relax. This was a brand new trailer as are most that Matt rents, check put his web site for pictures, floor plans and pricing, we also rented a golf cart from him at half the cost Disney wanted. We stayed in a loop close enough that we could walk to the pool, and nightly movies. We enjoyed the trip so much next time we go we will rent an trailer again.

We had great weather last week and enjoyed having the golf cart instead of using the internal buses.

3. Camping at the Fort gives us the ability to cook or grill!
4. The Fort gives us our own outdoor space!
5. The Fort gives us swimming pools with slides & hot tub.
6. The Fort gives us lots of outdoor activities, bikes, wagons, horses, boats, fishing, roasting marshmallows, outdoor movies with chipmunks & singing, playground, or our own outdoor games.
7. The Fort gives us boat transportation to and from Magic Kingdom as well as to other resorts on the lake to make reservations for dinner, shop, or just sight see.
8. The Fort gives us a relaxed atmosphere after a day at the theme parks!

Camping at the fort is a wonderful experience, but isn't quite the same as camping in the UK. My DW and I are friends with a couple from Wales and they thought our camping style was "posh" as we had chairs, campstove, plates and silverware :goodvibes. Seriously, getting to the pool and Meadows trading post from the tent loop 2000 is pretty easy and doesn't require taking a bus. Next door to the loop is the group camping area and located in the back of the area is a shortcut to the pool and Meadows. The walk is no longer than 10 minutes. Tent loop 1500 is a short walk as well. When my DW and I are there the only buses we take are to the Settlement to catch a ferry or bus. The other buses we take are to go to the Reception Outpost to catch a bus to the other parks. Of course renting and driving a cart can be fun, but remember that in the U.S. we drive on the right :goodvibes
