As a personal attendant I am in charge of packing a little emergency kit for the day of the wedding.

Can you guys help me?

I am putting her in charge of her own extra pair of nylons.

so far I have:

sewing kit
safety pins
tweezers (she said we need them to pinch the hooks on the bustle on the dress)
hair spray

any other suggestions?

tamie

How 'bout clear nail polish and bobbie pins...oh, and nail glue? You never know! Have fun :p

nail polish
tissues
Mints/gum
Femine Hygiene Products :0)
band aids
make-up remover

Gum
Breath Mints
Bottle of water
Aspirin/Tylenol
Small hairbrush and comb
Small package of crackers (in case she forgets to eat in all the hubbub and gets a little lightheaded from hunger)

I know there is more, let me think on it some more

snacky food anbd water. stuff i wished i'd had at my wedding.

Groosch!

Nert sure this will help yer much...but,

my 'crash kit' included;

Dramamine

Smell'in salts

and duct tape.

;) :teeth:

I'm sure ya won't need what you're planning for....but best to be prepared!

Talcum Powder (to help if anything gets on the gown [lipstick, food, drink])

And make sure if she drinks with her gown on, she only drinks light colored beverages.

Ginger Ale
White Wine
Water
etc

GP--Crash Kit indeed!!!! ;)

What's up with this "personal assistant" thing? I've never heard of this. Is it a no-glory job? Are you IN the wedding? You sure are BUSY with this task.... (I read about the wagon in another thread!)

Good luck!

Moleskin for her shoes. (I remember lining any potential spots of my shoes that would irritate my feet with corn pads.) I danced the night away with nary a blister. :D

ballet slippers (like regular slippers) for dancing later on.

Band-aids
Concealer
Bobby pins
needle & thread
super glue
small pack of tissues - and as my sister's Maid of Honor, I kept a tissue tucked into my bouquet in case she got a case of the waterworks during the ceremony.
deodorant
FDS (Feminine Deodorant Spray) - she's gonna be nervous, yanno.
scotch tape (you never know when a bouquet may try and fall apart on ya)
clear nail polish
I also bought a cheapie wedding band (dime-store type) in case anybody's got lost at the last minute.
UMBRELLA - A HUGE ONE
paper and pencil (for those "I'll call you" promises, and to help track gifts and people who should be thanked properly later on)
disposable camera(s) - you never know if a photographer is gonna get stuck in traffic
CASH - in case you need to send someone out to the store for anything

Can ya tell I've done this a few times?

(sorry if any of these are repeats)

A plain white cloth. When my mom was helping me put my dress on, she brushed against some of the satin on my skirt with her lips (and bright lipstick!). I was horrified as it left a large smudge on the very front of my dress. Someone, I don't remember who, pulled out a white cotton cloth and started rubbing and rubbing and rubbing on the spot (not hard, just back and fort lightly over the spot). Within one minute all of the lipstick was on the cloth and off my dress. The satin on the dress won't hold the stain...it will stick to the cotton cloth. ;) Now if you get makeup on lace or beadwork, you'll need some club soda to get that out.

Also,

TUMS or Pepcid
A hand mirror
pocket tissues
aspirin/ibuprofen/Tylenol
contact lense stuff (if she wears em)

P.S. I think she's gonna need U-HAUL!!!!!;)

Might sound silly but....

white out

if the stain isn't coming out....white it out!

Am I the only person who didn't take anything but herself and her bouquet to the church and reception?

Besides, the country club where our reception was had the ladies room very well stocked, in case I, or anyone else, needed something.

Yes, d.kurz - a personal assistant is a thankless job, especially if the bride has no clue what she is doing and you're the "planner" of the family.

I'm not in the wedding - I just have to help her plan if she needs me (which she does) and help her get ready the day of the wedding.

I emailed her a to do list today and she suddenly realized just how much stuff she still has left to do! um, yeah - I've been trying to prod her along to get stuff done for weeks!

Keep the suggestions coming guys - I think I'll need a large piece of luggage to carry all of this, but it might be necessary! :)

tamie

Well, Tamie, sounds like she's lucky to have you!!

And RUDisney...I brought myself, my bouquet and a teeny bag big enough for a my cigarettes (have since quit!) and a lipstick!!

Great suggestions so far!

~Shout wipes...these things were lifesavers for a bridesmaid at a wedding we went to
~extra pair of pantyhose

Are you making up baskets for the ladies and men's rooms at the reception?

My MOH was wonderful... she did this stuff for me but we were a small group. I have not seen straws come up on the list - very good for drinking without messing up lipstick. As for food - I read a recommendation that said thrown an apple in the bag. Not only is it good food but it will keep your breath fresh while other snacks may not. As for the cotton cloth, you can also use it if you need to put anything over anyones head who has makeup on - you put the cloth over top then pull clothes on - any makeup gets on the cloth and not the dress. Heather also brought a small, personal size bottle of wine which we shared after we were dressed. It was just enough to share a drink without making either of us sick or tipsy - we stuck a straw in the bottle and sipped a toast to us (and our friendship).
