We are Flying there and im trying to pack light since the Baggage Fees kill you!! man those airlines rip you off!! grr anyway,, i have a 2 yr old and an 8 yr ld.. what should i bring for September?? u think we can still swim ??

Don't have kids so can't help there but can tell you it will be hot so no problem swimming.

Yes, you will definately be able to still swim in September. The weather doesn't start to really cool off till October or November. Also, the crowds will be considerably smaller in September...it's one of the best times to visit.
As far as the packing goes, be sure to bring sunscreen (you will still need it)...however, due to TSA regulations, if you plan to carry it on the plane, it will have to be in 3 ounce bottles or less, all of which have to fit inside a quart sized plastic bag. Just a heads up.
As for the kids...hmmmmm...I don't have kids, but when I WAS one (hahaha), I always enjoyed reading or learning about where I was going. Maybe you could bring along, for the plane ride, a coloring book or some kind of book for the kiddos? If you need a good book title about WDW, just send me a quick private message and I would be more than happy to suggest one! Hope at least part of this helped you in your planning! HAVE FUN!!!:thumbsup2

Those new check-in fees are terrible. Urgh! I don't know about kids, but in general to pack light I would bring fewer changes of clothes than I really need (about half) and do laundry at the resort about midway through. Most of the resorts have some kind of facility. You can get the packets of detergent and fabric softener from places like Target (where they keep travel-sized things) and some change for the machines. Remember that you are entitled to a 1-quart clear bag's worth of liquids PER PERSON, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem to bring a bit of detergent. As for sunscreen... Doom Buggie is right about the small size, so you might want to just give in and buy it there, either at the airport when you arrive or at your resort gift-shop.

Don't forget the spare swimsuits if your littles like to swim! My parents never brought extra suits when I was growing up (we didn't usually have an extra) so I had to deal with icky, cold, wet suits after the first day...

We were there last Sept, and it was definitely warm enough to swim. Like a PP stated, I would pack enough clothes for about 1/2 of the days and then plan on doing laundry to keep the baggage fees down. I believe it is Purex that has laundry sheets that are a 3-in-1 - they have the detergent, fabric softener and anti-static stuff all included. You just throw the sheet in with the wash and keep it in through the dryer cycle. They work great!

One thing we did was to pack each of our kids' (DS5 & DD3) backpacks for the flights. We included things to keep them busy (books, toys, etc) and some snacks. We also packed a small blanket (their favorite blanket) to keep them warm on the plane(s).

Good luck!

Yes to swimming for sure!
i SAY, PICK A COLOR SCHEME, LAY OUT SHORTS AND COORDINATE TOPS, BARRETTES, ETC ETC, YOU REALLY CAN CUT DOWN IF YOU COORDInate (sorry for caps, too lazy to correct:lmao:)
anyhoo, a hanging shoe organizer (inexpensive at walmart) and you can put a diff outfit for each day in a "slot" works great.....so simple and kids like "picking" for the day
have a great trip!
Don't forget those cheapo ponchos!;)

We take 9-10 day trips and I always do laundry once in the middle of the trip and usually right before we leave. I hate coming home with suitcases full of dirty laundry! I like to use the Purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets when I'm on vacation. They are detergent and dryer sheet all in one, and you don't have to worry about packing a liquid. :thumbsup2

Here are some of my favorite sites for packing light:

You can definitely pack for a 9 day vacation using only carry-ons. For larger liquid items like sunscreen, you can ship yourself a package to the hotel. Write on the outside of the box "Hold for Guest Arrival" and "Last Name xx Date". Do this for things like sunscreen, hair gel/spray, spray bottle of wrinkle releaser etc. You can include souvenirs in the box when you ship it home. Don't forget to include a roll of packing tape! With USPS flat rate boxes, this is MUCH cheaper then the baggage fees down & back.

Other non-clothes items on my packing list:

-refillable water bottles; packets of Crystal light
-LED nightlight (no bulb to break)
-surge protected power strip (lots of t-storms in Florida)
-chargers for camera, cell phones
-extra memory cards for camera
-roll of quarters
-Purex laundry sheets
-Downy wrinkle releaser
-Tide to Go pen
-moleskin/body glide (+ something to cut the moleskin with)
-band aids
-nail scissors
-sewing kit
-tweezers
-sunscreen
-Purell
-antacid
-ibuprophin/asprin
-cold meds
-Caramex/blistex/chapstick
-gum for plane
->2 pairs of shoes per person (rotate pairs every other day to help prevent blisters and sore feet)

I'd bring my own stroller for the 2yo. Most airlines will let you bring it for free since it's considered a 'personal assistance device', like crutches or a wheel chair. <- double check with your airline though.

I'd also buy a tube of glo sticks before you go. This should help prevent the 'gimmies' at night parades/events. It also makes it easier to spot your kids at night. You can also use one to mark you stroller.
