We are not going to DW until summer of 2010. But the kids already know about the trip (our first trip that was not a surprise for them). They have started saving up but since this is our 3rd trip, there is not a whole lot of planning for us to do. I need ideas on how to keep them excited about the trip. Last night for example, they chose to play our Disney Scene It game to 'get them ready'. 18 months is a long time though for them to stay excited. Ideas?

I think I would try to forget about it for a while, actually. I just think 18 months is too long to be in crazy vacation planning mode - I planned almost a year last time, and I burned out a few times (and I didn't tell the kids). At times, I truly felt like I was losing my mind! :lmao:

We listen to Disney music, and we also watch videos of Disney on youtube. Our trip is not until Oct 09, but we talk about it, and what we look forward to doing again. We didn't go last year so this will be extra special.

Oh, and everytime a Disney commercial comes on TV, we all laugh. We are getting excited. :goodvibes

We always have 2 years between trips. It is a long time to keep up the excitement. We like to watch our home movies from past trips. I also have our disney pictures from the last trip as the screen saver on our computer. We like to listen to disney music too. I don't bring it up daily, because it is just so far away. I did get a disney trivia book for christmas this year. I like to quiz the kids once in a while.

We do a Disney night one Saturday a month (trip or no trip). We (me and DD) pick a recipe from a restaurant at Disney and make it. Many times it will turn into a theme night. IE .... We do something from Ohana, we turn it into a Hawaiian night and watch Lilo and Stitch, or maybe Beach Blanket Bingo. It is alot of fun. As we get closer to our trips, we do these nights more frequently.

Here is a thread on the DIS that has many of the recipes: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1575103

The other thing we did this last trip was we started leaving hidden mickeys around the house. ::MickeyMo Actually DD and DH started this one. I thought I was going crazy when I would see hidden mickeys here and there. One morning it was with three of my lipsticks. Another time, our change can that I pull quarters from had five of them on the top made with pennies and dimes. My DH made one on my mirror and I could see it when my shower steamed it up. These were not everyday and that is what made them fun. I went and made them with the sock balls in my DH drawer. It was the randomness that kept us excited.

Have fun........::MickeyMo

We like to talk about our favorite memories from our past trip and what we want to do when we go back. My son spots hidden Mickeys everywhere to the point that we are all doing it! We also watch Disney movies, listen to Disney music, and play our Disney Scene It game. I also like to include a little bit of Disney in our holidays and we look at our scrapbook that I made. The park maps are also a favorite. My DD will look at those things for hours!
