How do you justify cruising in June when it's the absolute best time for your family but you realize the price can be significantly cheaper other times? Tell me the reasons you love to cruise in June!

I haven't cruised in June so I can't give you reasons to cruise in June, but since I work in a school and before that my kids were IN school, I am stuck to cruising at higher priced times. We usually go in the summer and Presidents day week. It kills me to pay much more than a week or 2 earlier in Feb and a couple weeks later in the summer, but, it's what I have to do if I want to go at all.

A Disney cruise is such a great experience that once I'm on board, or sitting out at CC, etc... that annoyance I felt when I saw the pricing and paid it, just turns into happiness that I'm there. The bliss makes it all worth it. :)

I'm not sure there's a way to 'justify' cruising in June, other than what you already said: it's the best time for your family. The onboard experience is going to be the same regardless of when you go. Yes, it might be more crowded in summer because that's when a lot of families sail. It also might be hotter (depending on your itinerary). But I'm not really sure there's a 'reason' to sail in June, other than that time works best for a lot of families.

You'll have to decide what is worth more to you: the money or the timing/scheduling.

Those June prices are too steep for me. I'm THAT mom that just yanks the kiddos out of school. There's times the June prices get so high you could almost do TWO cruises in Jan/Feb.

If I had no choice for timing with the kids I'd do it because I love cruising with Disney but its like if I go for Jan I can usually do a cruise plus a couple disney days for the price of the June cruises LOL!

Not a June cruiser, either. But I have no children, nor a job in a school system.

But I will play along, as though I qualify.

June is at the beginning of the Summer (technically, 2/3 of the month is Spring).

The water is a nice temperature, but not that too-hot that it can become in August. It’s still refreshing.

Same with air temperature - it’s only going to get hotter.

And peak hurricane season is months away.

The exhaustion of dealing with kids out of school may not have set in = less grumpiness from everyone.

Vague memory about this: but don’t prices continue to rise until mid-to-late August (when Southern schools are back in session)?

It’s cheaper than Christmas.

You get to cruise with your family.

If your kids want to meet new kids, the clubs should have more participants.

…I’ll stick with early May, early September, and early December - to get warm water, less severe temperatures, fewer guests, and lower prices. Leaving a cabin for you in June.

Glad you didn’t ask to justify Disney cruise prices! 🤭

My son is now old enough I don't want to pull him out for a week of school anymore, so as others have said I have to decide if the cost is worth the vacation, and for now it is (and thus we will sail on Spring Break or during summer for the next few years).

We have cruised in June multiple times, but only in Europe. We take advantage of any way possible to lower the price...booking opening day, using a placeholder discount, booking through Costco. There is no way to justify it, we just do our best to make it less shocking. We also don’t mind cruising in an inside stateroom on the more expensive cruises to also alleviate some cost. We are never in our room anyway.

I’ve done one June cruise, it was rightafter COVID and I got a good *GT rate (for June pricing anyway.)

Pros were that the weather was amazing, not too humid but hot, and CC was perfect.

Cons for me is that it felt a lot busier than the normal time I sail as there was lots of large extended family groups.

But for the right price I’d sail in June again.

There is nothing special about June unless your going to Alaska or Europe. June is hot in the Caribbean not the prime time to go other than it works for most families.

r.e. bold-- BOSS Lady wants to cruise for our Anniversary so we cruise. It also helps that we cruise another line at a far superior level for far fewer dollars. Usually it's only us but next year being our 52nd we have DD/DSIL and DS/friend.

If it’s the best time for your family? Is that not a great reason to do it? 😊 plus June weather is usually pretty nice

The best time for your family? that's a perfect reason! The only time our family goes away on vacation is when it works schedule wise. My kids however, are no longer in preschool / early elementary school where I can pull them out of school and not worry about it. My daughter attends high school now and it would cause her too much stress to miss school for a family vacation. We travel when they are off from school, not missing any sports tournaments and it works for my husband's work schedule. it's much less stressful that way, so much more fun! IMHO, you have plenty of justification for a June trip ! Enjoy!

My family has only ever sailed in June so far (twice) and have another June cruise booked for this summer. So here are my reasons:
  • Don't have to pull our middle schooler out of school - We like 7 day cruses so that would be a lot of school to miss when you factor in travel time.
  • June is expensive but so far has been less than spring break, winter break, and July when I've priced out our itineraries.
  • Not all schools are out in early June so I try to convince myself it will be less crowded (but nothing to compare it too)
  • Plenty of kids for my DS to make friends with
  • Alaska itineraries are only in the summer anyway!
  • For the Caribbean, yes June is hot, but not as hot as July and August - water temperatures felt great for us.
  • Summer is long for kids, having a trip really helps break up the weeks.
  • One less week that I am paying for camp, childcare.
  • In general, June is a slower period at both my and DH's jobs so easier to take time off.
  • As others said, hurricane season has just started but unlikely to have a major event. I live somewhere sunny so I enjoy a little clouds and rain and got that on both cruises (but not too much to interrupt activities.
  • Both DS and I got sick on our last cruise. It was nice that he didn't have to miss more school on top of the vacation time since school was out
  • In general, it seems like some illnesses (flu, COVID) are a little less in June (some people got COVID on cruise but seemed like it surged higher later in the summer/early fall)
Now if I could only get Disney to schedule some more interesting itineraries for June that'd be great (would love a Southern Caribbean or a Norwegian Fjords in June).

Our kids are in their 20s now but when they were in HS, we'd either pick the first week of November (aka: Jersey week) which is when our schools close that Thurs/Fri for a teachers' convention and that usually coincides with Election Day, so schools would close that day too. We could take a 7 night cruise and they'd only miss 2 days. It was a very popular vacation week and we'd run into classmates at the airport or in WDW, Universal, etc. For Alaska and Med cruises (and one other Caribbean cruise when we were desperate) we chose the very last week of August, leading into Labor Day Weekend. It's the cheapest week in August and our kids didn't miss any school. It was rough though with Alaska because it ended on a Monday and their first day of school was the next day.
We all survived. It would really bother me to pay peak summer prices.
