I have the cold/sinus infection/post nasal drip/whatever from hell and nothing's working.

I went to the doctor on Thursday for a sore throat, and the doctor didn't think it was much but gave me Zithromax incase it turned into something. I've been taking it and I was fine until Monday. Monday morning I only had a sore throat and scratchy voice.

It is now Tuesday night and my voice is very hoarse (I sound like a man), my throat is better, my nose is very clogged up, I have a sinus headache, and I've lost my sense of taste and smell. I've used Zithromax, Sudafed, Vicks Vapor Rub, Halls Menthol cough drops, Ibuprofen, and Nyquil and nothing seems to be helping very much. I am *thisclose to going to the ER - I am MISERABLE! Does anyone have any ideas as to what else may work? I'm desperate.

Have you tried Mucinex? It'll help thin the secretions. What about a nasal sinus rinse? That was one of my lifesavers. You can buy them at walgreens/CVS/walmart, ect.

Hope you feel better!

Eh. Colds are the worst!

I don't expect this to make you feel better but my boyfriend's best friend was in the ER last night cause his temperature wouldn't go any lower than 101.0

There's a HORRIBLE flu/cold/sinus thing that has been going around here for about 3 weeks now.

THANKFULLY, being homeschooled, I've missed out of the joys of all that. ;)

My sister had is last week, and she just used Musinex to clear her stuffy nose, Nyquil to help her sleep. I mean it didn't help it go away, it just made her feel a little better and helped her sleep through the night.

Whatever is going around here lasts for about 8-10 days.

Hope you find something that's starts working for you. I've been reading your Facebook status' and you seem miserable. So I hope you start feeling better, Sonya!

maybe taking a little bit extra of what tylonal cold says to take take the nighttime and daytime

hope you get better soon:hug:

I got sick at WDW, it was awful! I had a horrible sore throat, bit of a fever, stuffy head, basically everything you do. I'm still very stuffy and I feel awful. My head just aches!

I just loaded up on a combo of Mucinex and Sudafed and it seemed to help a little. Unfortunately, H1N1 is going around my campus, and since I'm already sick, I hope I don't get it!

drink hot water with lemon juice and honey. its supposed to help your immune system. and maybe try taking vitamin c supplements and garlic tablets.

I feel your pain, I'm stuck indoors sick as well. I recommend you try chicken noodle soup, I heard it can help, it helped me when I tried it. (Though I ate it too soon and nearly burned my tounge off, wasn't pleasent.):rotfl:

Anyways, hope you get better soon.

I had something similiar to this when I was in 8th grade gosh that was probabally the worst week of middle school ever...
I just toughed it out and went to school anyways :/ but that's just me and I hate missing any school what so ever...
Probabally take it easy I remember after having it for 6 days (yes 6 days I know) I finnally crash after a really bad day of school...
I was fine till a teacher started a rumor about it and it took it all out of me...
I crashed out on the volley-ball court and after that I slept for like 20 hours and the next day I felt much better
I would not reccomend going to school with it since you will most likely crash... take it easy Sonya your a fighter I can take it I know it for a fact!

Neti-Pot. It'll clear out all of the bacteria and crap that's most likely the cause of this.

Feel better, Sonya. I've been dealing with this too. Sucks eh?

Mucinex inhaler is the best! I have used it several times in combination woth a little Advil when we were at WDW and I was sick as a dog and should have been in bed. It doesn't make you well, of course, but it will get you through and allow you to sleep at night. Just make sure you follow the directions so you don't get hooked on it. After you can't take it anymore, switch to the mucinex tablet someone else already suggested. Just make sure you drink 8oz or more of water with it or you'll feel awful.

Hope you feel better soon!

Might be all allergy related. Allergies are miserable on the east coast right now. Feel better.

Thanks you guys! It's not mono or the flu, it's just the nasty virus that is running rampant around here. Lots of people are out from school. I missed everyday this week except Monday, although I started getting better around Thursday. My teacher is 8 months pregnant and I'm not going to risk getting her sick.

Right now I feel fine except for the excess mucus in my cough and in my nose. It's all coming out though, thank God. I didn't know there was a Mucinex spray. We have the Mucinex (it says maximum strength) tablets but those things are HUGE! and can' be manipulated in anyway. I'm no stranger to large pills, but I'm small and I'll choke myself trying to take that. I'll have to look into neti pots. I've never heard of those, but they might come in handy as I'm prone to chronic sinus infections.

Yep, the mucinex pills are gargantuan! But they are the best because they do get all the junk out. And I love my neti pot. its a great thing to have on hand if you feel another cold/sinus infection again.

Yeah, I thought they were hugeee at first, but they weren't hard to swallow at all.
