Hi!

I'm new to the boards but have had this place come highly recommended by my sister :)

I'm a very indecisive person so the thought of planning a wedding is totally overwhelming to me! I'm meeting with my florist next week and I need to tell her what I want in way of flowers and color scheme. The only problem is, I have no idea what I want! I have a couple restrictions which might narrow it down so perhaps you could give me some input.

I wanted to post my dress but according to the board rules am not allowed to until I have ten posts...so let me say that it is Casablanca 1827. If you google it you'll see it right away. UPDATED: here's a photo:

My parents are currently traveling in Vietnam so bought us a whole bunch of Vietnamese silk lanterns. My Mom ended up getting us blue, lime green and cream lanterns so we kinda have to stick with those colors or add to them.
Again, I was going to add a photo to show you what I mean...but I can't...UPDATED: here we go!

I'm torn between going with something more romantic and old fashioned to go with my dress (cream garden roses) or something more exciting and colorful: colors like lurkyloo had for her wedding (the Disney Moroccan wedding) :D Especially because we'll already have these exotic looking lanterns lit up all over the room. Do you think I could add bright orange and fuchsia to the blue and lime green? Also, so you think those colors are too contemporary for my dress?

Any other suggestions?

just googled your dress, it looks very elegant! it looks so detailed and pretty!!

very nice!

First off, gorgeous dress! My dress is from casablanca too, you can see a pic in my PJ (link in my signature). I think you could definitley use oranges and bright colors. The best part about a wedding dress is that it's white, and white goes with everything :goodvibes . Not sure what shades of blue and green you are using but, if you wanted to keep the blues and greens and maybe use something a little different you could try hydrangea (lighter blue), or cabbage roses (green) and make the orange really stand out.
Personally, I love orange and fushcia grebera daises. So bright and bold. Or even a bright pink stargazer lily (they do have a scent though, so if you are an allergy sufferer you may want to have the pollen sacks removed -very easy, and you should not be charged for it- or skip them altogether).
I was a florist for a looong time and the most unique bouquet I ever made was for a bride who haad coral and bright blue as her colors, she chose orange gerbera daises, hot pink roses, and stargazer lilies. She wrapped them with a blue ribbon to complete her theme and it looked so pretty in her pics. Don't stress about the flowers too much, it really is a small part of the day, even though sometimes the task of selecting them in daunting!
Hope that helps some, let me know if you need anything else :flower3:

Thank you for the compliments Stacie!

And Samantha:

Let me say, your dress is gorgeous too!! Casablanca has such pretty gowns.
Thanks for all the advice! You know what's really strange? I emailed my sister before looking at your reply and she said to me, "Why don't you add fuchsia and orange to the blue and green?" Brilliant! Thanks so much for the advice-it really helped! I managed to post a couple pictures too so you can see what the lanterns will look like. Congrats on your engagement!

My friend has the same dress, she is having a sept wedding. She is going with the cream colored and it looks so vintage. I have to say that dress looks the best with those colors. Hers are mauve roses and cream... absolutely stunning...

thanks, I love their gowns! All the lace on your will look amazing in photos! Ask your florist when you meet with her to show you some options, all of those flowers should be in season (maybe not hydrangea yet). Check out the bouquet section on www.theknot.com and look at some examples, I have seen tons on there.
When is your wedding by the way?

That's where I struggle a little (and trust me, not that I'm losing sleep over any of this, haha!) because part of me loves old fashioned vintage but the other half wants these amazing vibrant colours! Mostly I think I want the bright colours cause they define my personality better.

Samantha, I've been told that the florist I'm going to is really great so I hope they're right! It would be great if she could offer some suggestions or other options for what I'm looking for. We're getting married July 18th of this year, yeh! I've had an almost two year long engagement so I am reeally looking forward to this :yay: How about you-when's your special day??

I think fuchsia and orange would look GREAT with blue and lime green! :cutie: And I don't think they necessarily preclude the vintage/old-fashioned vibe - call it "eclectic" and go with whatever you want....

What a gorgeous dress!! :goodvibes

Here is a pic of my fuschia and orange silk bouquet, maybe you can try to picture blue and lime green in it...

Good luck, I can't wait to hear what you decide!

lurkyloo, I'm sure get this often but I love your wedding! So gorgeous. When you say the word "eclectic" that is pretty much the word used by friends and relatives to sum up my fiance and I. So I guess eclectic it is! I've been seriously warming up to the idea all afternoon.

Tink_Kel, I had to do a double take when you said silk-that bouquet looks amazing! I am so sold on the whole fuchsia and orange scheme (along with amazing turquoise blue and lime green).

Thanks for the help everyone! Sometimes I really just need some extra input :)

I think most florists will be able to match the colors to your lanterns. Just bring in the colors you like and they should be able to make something you'll love :) Our wedding in not until feb 2010, but I am leaning towards bright bold colors for everything too.
Let me know how it all works out, good luck at the meeting with the florist:goodvibes
