I think I saw that the name tag he had on was "Scoop" something - maybe he is supposed to be a reporter or some such thing! He was very funny and had DD laughing - asking if we were picking the roses (actually we were letting lady bugs go to help the roses).

We also saw the Mayor and two lovely lady friends today.

My DD will NEVER be able to say I didn't take any photos of her growing up!

Okay - for now he shall remain nameless in my photos until next visit to the Kingdom. I will stop in Guest Services, and ask what his name or what role he is portraying ( you know = like the Mayor is the Mayor.....)

Nice pictures of your daughter. I have never seen that man before. Sorry no help here. :confused3

I don't remember ever seeing the reporter guy but the mayor is Mayor Weaver. We ran into him when we were there for my son's 8th b-day and he made my son say an oath to become an honory citizen of the MK.

We met Scoop on Earth Day too. He is a riot!! We were just talking to a manager over at downtown Disney and we were talking about Scoop. My understanding is that his name is Scoop and he's a reporter.

Thanks - so I did read his name tag right!!! He was goofing so much with DD, that I only got a quick glance of it - I was on the right track! He was very funny!

Scoop is our absolute favorite character at WDW.

His name is Scoop Sanderson, Main Street Gazzette reporter. He is the one to get and share all the latest news happening on Main Street. He hangs around alot there with his gal pals and the Mayor himself.

He also is very knowledgeable in the way of Disney pins, and is quite the collector himself. He has a pin seminar Sunday thru Wednesday at Expo Hall in the theatre. There you can learn about how pins are made and how to trade while at the "World". It begins at 1PM and goes for about an hour. He also loves to interact with guests at the seminar and is known to play some pin games and give away pins as prizes.

Goi check it out!! Tell him Winnie sent ya!!

Blessings,
Winnie

Thanks for the additional info! I had "googled" "Scoop at WDW" before the other poster had mentioned that was his name for sure and I saw the info about the pin seminars - but I was not sure if it was one in the same!!

We will have to check out the seminar! This is why I love the boards - even though we spend a lot of time in the parks - there is still so much of this kind of thing that I had not known about.... like the candy maker at Japan.... and kaki gori!

:disrocks:

what is kaki gori?

Kaki Gori - for lack of a better description is a Japanese Snow Cone! There is little stand just past Japan in EPCOT, where you can get them. They have yummy flavors - melon, strawberry, tangerine, and maybe cherry? They also make a rainbow with mixed flavors. I had the melon and it was wonderful.

I had never paid attention to the stand before - but was looking for it on Friday after reading about it here- it was a great treat on a fairly warm day! I think it was $2.25 and quite big. Next time DD and I will split one - as neither of us were able to finish!
