:rotfl2: Some wild animal is leaving me presents on my driveway and walkway leading up to my house. This has been happening every night for the past two weeks. I need to figure out what it is so I can decide if I should pack up and move immediately. :eek

1. It only comes out at night between 10PM and 1am. DH takes the dogs out at 10 and there is nothing. I take them out at 1am and there it is. In the morning, there isn't anymore than there was at 1am.

2. It is a little log about 1/2" to 3/4" long. It looks like a smaller version of a Tootsie Roll.

3. It is dark brown and by morning it looks black. When attempting to pick it up, it turns into powder.

4. There is never a pile. At most there are three "logs" spread out between the driveway and the house. Some nights there is only one.

5. We live in FL so the possibilities are numerous.

DH says it looks like what a turtle would leave behind but turtles aren't nocturnal. I have seen raccoons but this is way to small to be coming from them. We have armadillos but I haven't been able to find any pictures of their waste.

I have looked at more pictures of animal excrement tonight to last me the rest of my life. Any ideas?

Could it possibly be a big toad? The turning black and falling apart into powder by morning (along with appearing in the early nighttime hours) is what toad turds do in our driveway.

Ohhhhh........maybe! This would make me happy because I wouldn't have to move over a frog or a toad! :rotfl2:

We have tons of frogs and toads but they aren't that big.

It does look like the picture shown under frog in this link:

From the description I have read on possums, it isn't that. It doesn't seem to be an armadillo either. I think we can safely rule out a croc. :rotfl:

Too funny.. I've never seen "frog/toad droppings" before..:rotfl: Now if I ever see one I'll know what it is..:thumbsup2

Yes, that's exactly what our friends' little "presents" look like. I've often been surprised by how big a gift a fairly small toad can leave. I think you are probably safe to stay in your house! I love our frogs and toads. They are cute, and they eat bugs! :goodvibes

The more I read on frogs, the more I am convinced this is what it is. Gotta love the Dis. Thanks so much!!

I just read two articles on how to kill them off including the use of glue traps. :scared1: I would never do that. They are great little things and keep the bugs somewhat manageable. Now, if it ended up being rats, which was my fear, that would be a whole different story.

I am getting ready to take the dogs out in a little so I am sure there will be a few presents for me.

Definitely frog or toad. We have a ton of them that gather around our front porch every evening - the lights attract bugs, so it's like an open buffet for them. Lots of those droppings get left behind.

We've been having fun identifying all the different kinds of tree frogs, but that's another thread...

Hey, that poop website was helpful to me in identifying the scat my DH and I have seen on walks. He insisted it was deer, but I can tell him he is wrong and it is raccoon poo!
